I'm a very proud German-American. He's just another of the ilk who turned my ancestors' beloved motherland into a haven for bigotry and fascism. Who cares if he turned out to be a closet homosexual. Hitler saw him more as a threat to his power, that's why he had him killed. Although I'm sure he sure didn't like Rohm's homosexuality too much.

3. I'm guessing one or two insinuations: night of long knives |
|
and the crypto-gays in the gay hating nazis.
I don't think a night of long knives will help them. They can't clean house enough to fool anyone.

6. Ernst Roehm was hitler's sweetie pie. |
|
Ernie baby and Adolf had a thing going for a long time but when it looked like adolf was going to achieve his insane freaking goals, Ernst became too heavy a risk and so, on the fabled "Night Of The Long Knives", Hitler got rid of his problem by sinmply having someone run a long sharp knife thru Roehm's belly. And that was a helluva sacrifice because Roehma was the head of what would eventually become the SS. The best thing is....nobody misses Ernst or Adolf.

The SA came first under the direction of Ernst Roehm and the SS followed later with Himmler at the helm.
The SA, at the beginning were primarily body guards for Hitler and his henchmen. It wasnt un til later that the SS took on the bigger role as a second German Army (The Waffen SS)and their mission became political rather than territorial.
Either way, SA or SS, they were a bunch of truly bad dudes an d the world is better off without them.

of limited abilty who ran the SA until the brownshirts became a liability as Hitler gained real power and had to "upgrade" his image and bring in some genuinely evil, and far more effective, talent.
Now, why would you ask such a question?

11. He was a henchman who was jettisoned when Hitler needed respectability |
|
Roehm was a classic ultra-masculine tough-guy homosexual, and he was the street muscle behind Hitler's rise to power. When Hitler needed a pledge of loyalty from the military, Roehm was killed and the SA leadership broken.
Considering what a total wacko Hitler was about sex, the knowledge of Roehm's preference must have been a festering wound for years.

12. The German Army distrusted Rohm and the SA |
|
so Hitler was given the choice between the Regular Army and the SA. The SA was not going to be able to conquer Europe so AH sacrificed the SA to secure the loyalty of the Army High Command. Himmler's SS was another organization entirely and was quite small at the time Rohm and the SA leadership was taken out.
