Miers doing so badly they are stopping visits to the Senate
The Miers Support Team: Gloomy and Demoralized
Now they’re discussing stopping her visits to the Senate.

Strategists working with the White House in support of the Supreme Court nomination of Harriet Miers are becoming increasingly demoralized and pessimistic about the nomination's prospects on Capitol Hill in the wake of Miers's meetings with several Republican and Democratic senators. On a conference call held this morning, they even discussed whether Miers should simply stop visiting with lawmakers, lest any further damage be done — and so that time spent in such get-acquainted sessions will not cut into Miers's intensive preparation for her confirmation hearing.

4. What's funny is...
they offer up Aunt Bea for a SCOTUS appointment and have the intestinal fortitude to act surprised when she is ripped to pieces!?

It's like a bad ShrubCo PR video where he reaches into a desk for a pen to sign away some orphan children for medical research and accidently pulls out a buzzing dildo instead. But rather than acknowledge it, he continues to try and convince people it isn't a dildo, it's REALLY a PEN!

6. It was over as soon as the first Senator asked, "Quick! What's the
holding for Marbury v. Madison?" Harriet hasn't been under the gun like this since she was in law school on the first day.

7. I read the article, but i am unclear as to what these twice a week
conference calls were. Were they calls among supporters of the nomination, who were "brainstorming" on advancing Miers? Or were they calls involving people the staff wanted to win over?
