http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/21/politics/21leak.html

Who gave Novak the full monty (FIRST source): her name (Valerie Plame) and status (CIA WMD operative)? Rove supposedly just "confirmed" Ms. Plame's identity and was not the one who passed on the classified info.

Fitzgerald knows. Anybody have an idea who this might be?

It is still not publicly known who first told the columnist Robert D. Novak the identity of the C.I.A. officer, Valerie Wilson. Mr. Novak identified her in a column on July 14, 2003, using her maiden name, Valerie Plame. Mr. Fitzgerald knows the identity of this source, a person who is not believed to work at the White House, the lawyers said.

4. I'm betting it was one of the two people who have flipped. Novak said
it was them and they have decided not to take the fall for the people higher up who gave them the marching orders. Fitz certainly would have had a lot of ammo to use to get them to talk.

Hannah and Wurmser(???). What is the second flippies name?

3. He said at another time that his source wasn't a political partisan figure
Something to that effect. So the impression is it's someone who doesn't work in the White House, who had security clearance, and who isn't viewed as a partisan, at least not by Novak.

5. Novak: "no partisan gunslinger"

" It was an offhand revelation from this official, who is no partisan gunslinger."

Could easily fit Libby IMHO

Sorry to link to Novak writings but someone will want it:

<snip>

During a long conversation with a senior administration official, I asked why Wilson was assigned the mission to Niger. He said Wilson had been sent by the CIA's counterproliferation section at the suggestion of one of its employees, his wife. It was an offhand revelation from this official, who is no partisan gunslinger. When I called another official for confirmation, he said: "Oh, you know about it." The published report that somebody in the White House failed to plant this story with six reporters and finally found me as a willing pawn is simply untrue.
