The Propaganda and Disinformation Acts of 2006 |
|
Next week Americans will have to confront the reality that it can happen here.
Manufacturing disinformation and propagating it through a compliant mass media cannot be tolerated in a free democracy. We demand stricter controls and oversight over official government communications meant to deceive the public. There must be stiff penalties for reporters and their employers who engage in such conspiracies.
Let's call for the creation of historic legislation that will require honesty and transparency. There are many profound lessons to be learned from our national experience these past five years. Our country cannot absorb the damage caused by traitors like these.

4. This goes far beyond FD |
|
The only way people are going to "get it" is if we spell it out for them. This scandal goes far beyond Iran-Contra, Watergate, etc. Fabricating evidence, planting stories in the press, PsyOps, crimes against humanity...the list goes on.
We didn't dream this. Those of us here who have been following it all since Day One have been living through this Orwellian nightmare while those who only follow the MSM were (still are) completely oblivious. We know it will be a miscarriage of justice if the junta leaders, Cheney and Bush don't go down with the ship. Its not even a partisan thing: we can never allow this kind of propaganda effort to undermine our nation regardless of which party is the perpetrator.
A big PR push for LANDMARK legislation that just so happens to apply directly to PropagandaGate will get the chatters to focus on what is really at stake here. Even if the legislation cannot be applied retroactively, we need to put these new safeguards in place. We need one set of laws for politicians, and another set for the Fourth Estate. The survival of democracy depends on it!
