Bartcop sez that Powell sez...
...that he only showed the Plame memo to Bush and Cheney.

Is that correct? Anyone have a source or link for that?

If that's so, it's not a huge leap that Bush told Rove, Cheney told Libby, Rove and Libby leaked.

How high does this go?

2. honestly, it strains credulity that shrub didn't know.
let's just suppose that shrub has nothing to do with originating the whole thing. can you honestly say that ROVE, of all people, knew and wouldn't tell shrub?

i mean, THIS is the kind of crap shrub LIVES for! he has zero interest in issues, cares not one whit about the people, but totally gets his rocks off on screwing people over, especially for vengeance.

so, at a minimum, rove would have said, "hey, you're gonna LOVE this! you know that guy that criticized your state of the union speech? guess what we're gonna do to him! turns out his wife is a cia agent and we're gonna blow her cover JUST TO RUIN HER CAREER!"

i mean, the ability to do that sort of thing is probably the only reason shrub wanted to be president at all. getting revenge on saddam has been his entire mission in life ever since poppy refused to do it himself.

he's all about revenge. how could they keep such a juicy revenge story from him?

5. I think this goes clear to the top
It just remains to be seen what his cronies will do to protect him.
Afterall, he did not name Miers (his personal atty) to be SCOTUS for nothing.

4. actually the president has the right to know
but his problem is that he didn`t do anything after he found out that her cover and the "company" she worked for cover was blown. he participated in the cover-up by not saying anything or firing the people around him that may have committed crimes. i doubt he will be even mentioned in any indictments but the damage is done.

6. Powell would feel so much better........
....if he would just come clean and tell America what an asshole Mr. Bush is.

Seriously.. you know the guy could tell us stuff that would make our skin crawl.

Unfortunately - he's too dedicated and will probably die hiding lies for Bush.

7. Item is suspect.
The posting in question states that Powell showed Crashcart and Chimp on Air Force One on the Africa Trip. That can't be. Not only was Crashcart not on that trip, but Crashcart and Chimp never travel together in the same plane due to security risks involved with that.

This makes one suspect the remainder of the information on the post.

I'd be cautious repeating this stuff. It's probably not fact.

14. Here's a way to resuscitate this rumor...
Powell was on board, Chimp was on board and saw the original, during a phone conference Powell sent either a fax or a digital photo from an Elmo to Cheney back in his secret location.

Could happen you know. Better check those satellite phone logs. Wait don't bother Fitz' was rumored to have asked for those logs from AF-1.

8. i remember reading or hearing something like that
maybe randi talked about it

someone faxed a memo to powell who was on air force one--bush was there and so was rove.

wasn't that the memo that said top secret no foreign (or something like that) and there were reporters on the plane.

so powell probably showed bushie and bushie took it to rove and rove ran with it.

i can't remember who faxed it to powell

9. SNF -- top secret, no foreign eyes
"The memo, dated June 10, 2003, was labeled top secret at the top of the first page; a paragraph referring to "Valerie Wilson" at the CIA had the letters snf in front of it, for "Secret No Foreign," meaning the info is secret and can't be shared with any foreign national, says a government official who reviewed it but asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the material. The memo was taken by Secretary of State Colin Powell aboard Air Force One during a trip to Africa in July 2003, and Fitzgerald has questioned White House aides about who saw it. Fitzgerald has been said to be investigating whether any aides violated the 1982 Intelligence Identities Protection Act—which makes it a felony to disclose the identity of a covert CIA employee: it requires showing the violator knew the agent's undercover status. (The State memo makes no reference to that.) But the CIA's initial "crimes report" to the Justice Department requesting the leak probe never mentioned that law, says a former government official who requested anonymity because of the confidential material involved. Fitzgerald may be looking at other laws barring the disclosure of classified info or the possibility that current or former White House aides made false statements or obstructed justice. "

10. How about a person that holds dual citizenship..??
Edited on Sun Oct-23-05 01:22 AM by windbreeze
Such as Ari Fleischer? He supposedly saw the memo, and made phone calls, after seeing it, from the plane...but even though Cheney was not on the plane...doesn't say he didn't send it to Powell..which means they possibly all saw it, one way or another...
