Bush 1 Nat Sec Adv Snowcroft Blasts GWB....
in Monday's New Yorker, WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS!!!....

A Republican and a former Air Force general, Scowcroft is a leading member of the bipartisan foreign policy establishment, and his critique of both of the style and the substance of the Bush White House, is slated to appear in Monday's editions of the New Yorker magazine.

The article also contains some critical comments on the handling of U.S. foreign policy by the current President Bush from his father, whose 1989-1993 presidency is hailed for deft management of the end of the Cold War, German unification, the first Gulf war and the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The new attack comes hard on the heels of the denunciation of "the cabal around Cheney's office" by Col. Larry Wilkerson, the chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell in a widely reported speech to the New American Foundation in Washington this week. Wilkerson said the national security decision-making process was effectively "broken."

Scowcroft's criticisms will be taken seriously at the highest levels of the Bush administration because he is seen as a mentor by some of its senior figures, notably Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, whose political career began when she worked under Scowcroft as an adviser on Soviet affairs.

2. Yes, but this indicates the civil war in the GOP
the many hits shrubby and the neo consters have taken in the last 72 hours speaks volumes of a very nasty civil war

We may even witness the implosion of a modern american party, and no the base does not get a vote here.

Take cover, it is gonna get nasty and bloody

3. UPI and the Washington Times have been reporting negative Bushco stories
for months now. I suspect the Moonies profits are down from the Bush economy and they haven't been cut in on the action.

We've had a rash of UPI and Washington Times stories posted on DU of late. Apparently a lot of people don't realize that UPI and the Washington Times, as well as many other media companies are owned by the Moonies. That's why I always post my little FYI every time I see something reported from either source.

5. Used to be independent and reliable
That stopped in 1990. No organ of Moon's organization is independent or reliable.

Yeah, the hits are coming from all corners. It's nice to see, but it's still good to point out source bias. Like I said, a lot of people don't know about Moon and his media holdings.

6. Moon is a front man for S Korean intelligence and industrial groups
(chaebols - huge conglomerates - Hyundai, Daewoo, etc)which in the 1970s adopted a forward strategy of penetrating American media and society to influence our politics and foreign policy decisions. The Moonies initially masqeraded as a global anti-communist movement, so their cult-like cells were tolerated. In fact, they serve the nationalist agenda of the South Korean leadership.

The Koreans, which had one of the world's highest economic growth rates in the 1980s, still have not recovered from the Asia Crisis of 1997. They have not done all that well under BushCo (which is very China-centered) and the US military presence in Korea -- a cash cow for some wealthy Koreans -- has shrunk considerably in recent years. Their efforts to pacify and start to do business with North Korea have also been set back since 2000.

One should not be surprised the Moon-owned media, which bought UPI from the Saudis in 2000, has become critical of Bush.
