Re: The UN report, I thought Chumpy was on the outs with the UN
What am I missing. I thought that Chumpy was on the outs with the UN ever since he started his illegal war of choice. So what's with the UN report, this report, that makes him so happy?

I had a gut feeling that something was wrong with the report. I am reading that the report is based on the views of one flawed, suspicious character (reminds me of Chalabi all over again) who is NOT credible.

I am perplexed. I don't get why Chumpy is so snuggly with the UN all of the sudden...or why on Earth the UN would be helping him after what he's done to them.

Can someone please help me out here?

1. He disses them until he needs them...
This means he has some military plan in the works in which he will need the UN to cover his ass, with troops or legitimacy.

2. The report is not about Bush
The report was about the investigation into the assassination of the President (or PM, I can't remember his title) of Lebanon (he was killed in a car bomb). There were four nations that requested the investigation, the U.S. was one of them, France was another. Both countries were convinced that Syria had something to do with it.
22 Nations provided investigators.
This investigation is bigger than the U.S. and Bush. The report is based on some very comprehensive investigative work involving representatives from Germany, Switzerland and Spain among others. Bush has been looking for an opportunity to stick it to Syria. It happens that this report gives it to him.

9. Because his boy John "I spy on political foes" Bolton is in there.
And, this report, by stretching one's imagination beyond the breaking point, could be used as part of the justification to invade Cambodia...er...Syria.

10. Thanks for your comments. See, it's the "stretching" part isn't it?
I haven't read the whole report but the connection doesn't make sense to me. However, if you are looking for a reason to buy into this bullshit...maybe it does? Ya think?

11. That report came out VERY fast, don't you think?
An investigation into an assassination like that took such little time and had such a nicely wrapped-up ending?
