Is there a Rule Book for PAC fund raising? |
|
I'd like to become active with Democratic fund raising but I really don't know the rules. Anyone with links, book recommendations or campaign fund raising tips to share?

I'm ready to work to support our progressive Democrats. I definitely want to stay inside the lines.

4. I'd like to know if there is any actual structure to this party. Here in |
|
Oklahoma, I'm convinced that our district chair is actually an undercover Rethug. He cancelled all fundraising for this year. He says we can do a fundraiser maybe next fall. My wife complained , so he tasked her with coming up with fundraising ideas. Next meeting, he announced that all fundraising would have to be approved by someone I never heard of. He always is in a great hurry to end our meetings, and has now cut the number in half. My wife and others are very frustrated, but don't know what to do to actually have a Democratic party in our county. Does anyone else have these kind of problems/concerns, or is it just here in Oklahoma?

There must be an OK state Democratic chairman? Talk to that individual? http://www.okdemocrats.org/chairman_msg.aspOthers here at DU may have more ideas or more experience in such things.

Can you set-up a Meet-up of locals and discuss the problem? Get rid of your Chairman.

7. My wife and I have tried to be involved since the last Pres "election" |

So far we have been completely discouraged. Only a handful of people show up, and most of them seem to have accepted not having a voice long ago. It seems like this is just a place to go for them. I'm not talking a bout a small county, there are over 100,000 people living here, but we have never seen more than twenty at any meeting. There are a few of us who are desperate to DO SOMETHING, but we have absolutely no leadership. We're new to this, and so far I don't even understand what if any connection our little group has to our few Dem representatives, the state party, or what. I suppose Oklahoma is lost to us anyway (I don't know how we got Brad Henry elected governor), but we gotta try. We just don't have any leadership at all.

8. Maybe it's time for you to run for an Office. |
|
You obviously have the motivation. If not you, go find a candidate. Check out some of the Democratic lawyers....or nurses from the ONA, Oklahoma Nursing Association....they have legislative liaisons/nurses who just might run...

9. The "links" link at the Oklahoma Democratic Chair's site leads |
|
to links for each county.
Wes Clark won the Oklahoma primary, BTW, so it has a special place in my heart.
