Scenario: Watching the news a 5 o'clock today, regional station in a very large city.

Leading stories, plus there were a few others mixed in:

1. Emergency repairs to a dam that was threatening to break earlier this week.

2. Annual rowing regatta on a river.

3. Winner of the Powerball drawing.

4. Citywide neighborhood cleanup with lots of volunteers.

5. Pumpkin festival in neighboring state.

6. Sports, weather, chatter, etc, etc, etc.

Finally, near the bottom of the hour - It looks like the elections in Iraq were on the up and up. It looks like a "Yes" vote. Blah, blah, blah.

And four more military personnel were killed today in Iraq, bringing the total killed to 1996.



It's like the last story was put in just to use up time. Just unreal.

2. Do you have news at 6? I agree that the soldiers' deaths should

lead, but I also think that we need local news to have some priority. The public is innundated hour after hour with partisan news from the Pugs.

that's another one of those stories that we will all be scratching our heads saying "where were they?"when it breaks 2 years from now.It'll be just like the going-to-Iraq-for political-purposes major "breaking"story from the LA Times today.We knew this stuff years ago but since we all are tin foil hat wearing liberals the MSM media won't dare report it.I found out from my Vietnam veteran brother a year or so ago about them fudging the numbers on Iraqi deaths.Hmm what a concept republicans messing with the books...

local stations put on the air. Who owns BZ anyway? How about the profound coverage of Rummy on tonights news. It was so mumbled, I could not understand it. News? whatever! Lets check out those pumpkins!

To whom I don't know. It's not like anyone would take notice but if only there could be a count how many Americans, how many Iraqis every day to wake people up! It's like everyone's asleep. They seem to have forgotten that there even is a war or whatever we can call that mess over there.
