Wurmser passed Plame's name to Libby, Hadley, those close to leak investig
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 01:00 PM by Mabus
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Cheney_aide_passed_Plames_name_to_1024.html

With the possibility of indictments just days away, sources close to the investigation into who outed covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson have provided RAW STORY a more detailed account into how and why Plame's name was leaked and what role the Pentagon and the vice president's office played.

Those close to the investigation say that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has been told that David Wurmser, then a Middle East adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney, met with Cheney and his chief of staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby in June 2003 and told him that Plame set up the Wilson trip. He asserted that it was a boondoggle because she was a CIA agent, the sources said.

Libby then shared the information with Karl Rove, President Bush's deputy chief of staff, the sources said. Wurmser also passed on the same information about Wilson and his CIA to Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice, they added.

Within a week, Wurmser, on orders from "executives in the office of the vice president," was told to leak her name to a specific group of reporters in an effort to muzzle her husband, Wilson, who had become a thorn in the side of the administration, those close to the inquiry say. It is unclear who Wurmser had spoken with in the media, the sources said, but they confirmed he did speak with reporters at national media outlets about Plame.

Plame did not send Wilson
She couldn't have. She didn't have that kind of authority. She suggested to her bosses that her husband might be able to help in that part of the world since he served as an Ambassador in Africa and was competent, honest and knowledgeable (no bush lacky he.) The CIA was trying to accomodate an inquiry from cheney about Niger and alleged uranium sales. That's the facts. Its really quite easy to understand but bush's administration cares not about facts when they don't work in their favor. I look forward to Plame testifying to these facts in their trials.

12. It's like all other things connected to this case
It is an unknown until the facts come out. So far we're all operating on assumptions based mostly on what the MSM has given us none of us know what Fitzgerald has actually found or what others assume happened. To tell you the truth I don't know what Valerie's position was or what the normal course of her duties were in that position were. Was she an advisor? Who knows. What I do believe is that there was a lot of pressure exerted on a number of offices to make the case for war.

8. Not so sure about RawStory's White House sources. They have
great sources from big papers like NYT & WSJ (RawStory always seems to know what stories these papers are going to break well before they are published) but the jury is still out on the accuracy of info they are getting from White House sources.

Could be true, could be misinformation...

13. Wurmser's the Forrest Gump
He's a friend of Perle, his wife works at the Hudson Institute and he's long pushed for the US to take out Saddam, he worked for Bolton and yet his name isn't well-known.

July 31, 1998. Neocons Push Chalabi as Good for Israel
Wurmser (from IASPS) and Perle from both IASPS and PNAC met with members of the American Jewish community to convince them to more actively oppose Saddam and to back Chalabi and the INC (Iraqi opposition group).

Allegations of Espionage

On September 4, 2004, the Washington Post reported (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A60497-2004Sep3.html) that FBI counterintelligence investigators had questioned David Wurmser, along with Harold Rhode, Paul Dundes Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith about their involvement in passing classified information to Ahmad Chalabi and/or the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

"Whoever inherits Iraq dominates the entire Levant strategically," he wrote in one 1996 paper for the Jerusalem-based Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies (IASPS).

16. There it is. AIPAC, Franklin, Plame...Wurmser is the ribbon on the present
He's a wonderful source of info linking both scandals, & a topic of great interest to both Fitz & McNulty. Assuming McNulty is actually interested in following strings--not a forgeone conclusion.

17. Another reason we need to take back the House and Senate in '06
We need an investigation into all the GOP agenda. They've been running around pulling crap for years but now that they've got a monopoly they are running, dare I say it, amok. DeLay, Abramoff, Safavian, Brown, Bush, Cheney, Perle, Wolfowitz and the rest of this dirty despicable bunch.
