Block the Nomination of Ellen Sauerbrey as Assistant Secretary of State!
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 05:02 PM by Humor_In_Cuneiform
I heard someone on the Franken show talking about this nominee, and Sauerbrey sounds like another out of touch crony who will do much harm in this post if confirmed. Al Franken interviewed someone from the Center for Health and Gender Equity, link below.

There's information on the Franken show page as well.

"Block the Nomination of Ellen Sauerbrey
A Bush crony who has been nominated to be Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Migration, and Refugees.

What can you do to help? Via the Center for Health and Gender Equity: If you live in AK, CA, CT, DE, FL, IL, IN, MA, MD, MN, NE, NH, OH, RI, TN, VA, or WI, please call your Senator on the Foreign Relations Committee TODAY:

For more information on Sauerbrey, read more from the Center for Health and Gender Equity..."

1. Oh, ick.
She's the world's worst loser. When Glendening became governor of MD (okay, he was no prize but at least he was a Democrat), she pouted and whined for ages! Then she ran away to Paris or something. What's she doing back? Anybody got any garlic?

6. Send garlic, or an email to Biden at the foreign relations
committee or to your own Senator if they belong to it.

2. At what level do people just get hired without nomination and
comfirmation? I realize the Sec of State has to be confirmed, but how many assistants are there? Do they ALL have to go through the confirmation process?

The reason I ask is becaue once you get to a certain level, the confirmation committee isn't going to know the person, are care very much either.

5. I'm not sure but she will be voted on.
That was I guess how "Brownie" slipped under the radar when he first got in as deputy director of FEMA.

3. I was hoping I'd never hear that name again
She's the Ancient Curse of Maryland that keeps coming back, again and again, to fulfill her nefarious purposes....

As was pointed out on Al Franken's show today, "Sourbray" knows nothing about immigration or refugees. Another Michael Brown.

4. Yes, very clueless
Wholesale disregard for what women around the world face in terms of violence and abuse.

Just wants to promote the nice family with 2 kids and 2 parents, one a stay at home mom.

Yea, like that is possible for the kids getting married in the poor nations, or for every single other person here and everywhere.

Doesn't wanna help them to deal with rape, etc.

:puke:

I went to the Senate site and sent an email to Biden from his web site. For subject I chose "foreign relations" since that is the committee he is ranking minority member of that is considering the nomination:

8. Sauerbrey faces tough questions but expected to be confirmed! Boo!!
"Bush's Pick for State Post Criticized

By LAURIE KELLMAN
The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 25, 2005; 2:40 PM

WASHINGTON -- Ellen Sauerbrey, a Republican loyalist chosen by President Bush to head the State Department's refugee program, is the latest nominee to face tough questions from senators about her qualifications...

"It doesn't appear that you have very specific experience," said Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., during Sauerbrey's confirmation hearing before the Foreign Relations Committee.

"I don't think we see the requisite experience that we've seen in other nominees" for the job, added Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif....

Sauerbrey is expected to win confirmation despite the questions, with a committee vote as soon as next week..."
