How can they NOT impeach?
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 09:02 PM by Husb2Sparkly
Here's the premise:

Idiot son's inner circle outted a CIA agent and undid years of nuclear proliferation work by Brewster Jennings.

There will be indictments. Many of them.

Many of them will swirl around idiot son, even if he doesn't actually get an indictment.

The fact is, this administration beat the war drums and did all they could to lie the country into war. Knowingly. With malice aforethought.

Republican controlo, or not, how can they NOT impeach idiot son? We're already seeing many fleeing republicans. They always eat their own. Party uber alles. Idiot son is of virtually no value any more. The towsfolk will be out with pitchforks and torches.

How can they NOT impeach?

1. Because they are politicians
They will make public statements at how deplorable the whole thing is, say nothing else and then try to get Bush to resign if it goes that far.

An Impeachment would be too ugly and messy for the party. That's how they will see it.

4. "Bush didn't know, he was given poor information, not his fault, mumble"
And, when he pardons the assholes directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of soldiers and scores of thousands of Iraqi civilians, it'll be because they're all AMERICAN PATRIOTS.

"WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?" they'll shout every day, reinforced by thousands of ClearChannel talk radio stations across America. "Can't you see that Saddam Hussein was a threat to his neighbors and his people and they're so much better off now that we're liberating them? Scooter Libby is a HERO to the Iraqi people!"

Watch and see.

7. A letter to Congress after Katrina re: Impeachment...
...using the "I" word – IMPEACHMENT! I want Bush impeached. In my opinion, this is the 64 million dollar question? This Government of ours can try to impeach a President (Clinton) who had a great economy going, he was keeping us safe, he was working for the majority of the people, he was competent and intelligent, fast on his feet in times of need, and he could actually, as President, hold a conversation (including receiving questions from OPPONENTS and answering them) because of a personal matter like a sexual indiscretion? Oh, no wait, the deal was that Clinton lied. Hmm. NOONE DIED WHEN CLINTON LIED!

However, when Bush fails us in such a colossal and public way (which is apparently obvious to everyone but Bush and those working for him) he is not to be removed from office? That said, if that turns out to be true, then our Federal Government has ceased to function. I mean some of us have doubted for some time that this administration was functional but it will be so incredibly, blatantly obvious to everyone that it is no longer working. I am outraged. I watched all last week as Bush failed not only to act like a President but to act like a human being. I saw him laughing, smiling, joking about drinking too much, patting people on the back for “doing a heck of a job.” WHAT? I DID NOT see was any sense of urgency in his actions; in fact, I saw no action. I saw no concern. I saw no “Compassion” from that “Conservative.” I saw no angst! I was more disturbed than the Bush was. Then, I hear that he asked Nancy Pelosi, “what didn’t go right?” That is shocking and frightening to me. I have a whole list of what didn’t go right. Nancy Pelosi is correct in saying that Bush is DANGEROUS.

Furthermore, in my opinion, the Federal Government is criminally negligent for failing to 1) secure the safety of American people in distress; and 2) not following the law, the one they themselves put in place. The way I see it, Bush has blood on his hands and anyone who stands with him does too. Americans died from lack of water and medical care while others suffered in the chaos that ensued and NONE of it was necessary. God help anyone who can call that man-made disaster of a response “adequate.” Not to mention that now, as the fourth anniversary of 9-11 approaches, the administration who has bragged for years that they are the “only ones who can keep us safe here at home from any threat any time any where” FAILED! GOP Party loyalty seems loyal unto death, not their own deaths mind you, but the deaths of innocent others. IT IS INEXCUSEABLE!

is for some Rethugs to change their minds.

10. Because conviction is impossible
What fucking childish idiocy surrounds us? This is crazy.

Why waste time engaging in something that is by definition disruptive if it can't be fought to a successful conclusion?

Put all efforts into winning the House in '06 (yeah, sure, the Senate too, but that's a much longer shot) and then subpoena the little hereditary nobody. Rip open the lies and fraud that scared people into war. Rip open Enron. Expose the ugliness of the oligarchs. Put him under oath in front of a few video cameras.

To gallivant off with some revenge fantasy of impeachment is sheer idiocy; the votes in the Senate are NOT THERE. Fuck them in ways that will work.

15. Because the administration's political party is dominent
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 09:20 AM by architect359
They control the executive branch and pretty much a majority of the legislative branch. The wild card in my mind is the Judiciary - will the justices enforce the law of the land or not. The cynic in me believes not. With this much influence in their court, so to speak, it is hard to imagine that impeachment will proceed. I say this because it seems that they have proven to be very diciplined in closing ranks to protect their agenda or message or whatever despite any evidence or common sense to the contrary.

17. WERE "dominant"..past ttense. Now that "numbers" are on the down-low
at last we are LIVING in the "up-is-down" (rabbit-hole) of Party-Line loyalties...with Repugs defecting in numbers larger than draft-dodgers to Canada in the 70's.
