A question
Can anyone tell the rest of us....

IF Cheney were to resign or 'whatever'..leave, what is the process to get a new V.P. Is this where the Speaker steps up, or does * appoint someone and then need confirmation. As Cheney was never elected, just chosen..this is why I'm asking this. How does this work.

And.. what if...both Cheney and * leave.. I know the Speaker is next in line, but who's next?

I expect a resignation by tomorrow night, knowing how much that self exhaulted puff of dirty hot air prides himself. (Cheney) He's not gonna sit still for this, with the rumors flying in every direction. Question is, what's the 'naked emporer' gonna do.

2. Would it really matter?
The corporatists have their guys up and down the line of succession. Even if Cheney were to be removed, another handmaiden of the corporatist agenda would simply step forward and carry forth their plans on making more money at the expense of democracy.

3. The President nominates a VP candidate.
The congress must approve.

The Speaker only becomes President if both the President and Vice President get "incapacitated".

10. Is it by Majority or two thirds Majority?
I guess Logic would dictate that it be by simple Majority but curious anyway...

4. Cheney resigns, Bush nominates a new VP and both the House
and Senate must confirm. Office is vacant until a successor is confirmed.

7. All of Congress must confirm,
not just the Senate. It's mandated by the 25th Amendment.

5. When a VP resigns or leaves office, the President nominates
someone to take his place. Remember Spiro Agnew? Nixon named Gerry Ford.

I wouldn't be looking for resignations nearly that quick though. Cheney will fight like a cornered bear! Things will have to get much worse to force him out!

8. And then Ford
chose Nelson Rockefeller for his Veep.

Strange times, they were such strange times back then.

But, the Constitution got us through. We had a revolution without a drop of blood being shed, all because of the Constitution.

12. 2,000 dead soldiers in Iraq
That's quite enough bloodshed, considering it was all for naught.

Guess what Mr. Jefferson would think of that ..................
