3. Listening to From, it is apparent his heart belongs to "big business..."
not to working folks. After all, it is corporations who fund the DLC.

2. From just told Peter to cut off that lady
I cannot believe he just did that. She was railing against him and the DLC and he motioned to Peter and mouthed, "Cut her off!" Then he went on to call her ignorant and said that she shouldn't call in if she didn't know what she was talking about.

that's the spirit of the eggplant-tennis-anyone types...
... free discourse is for wusses. And the more SUBSTANTIVE discourse that really says something significant gets treated more harshly in proportion. Lucky lady she got off so easy

12. "Founded by the John Birch Society" - is that the

4. From lists 4 DLC candidates running for Prez-Clinton, Vilsack,Warner, Bayh
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 08:31 AM by flpoljunkie
Very interesting...the four "DLC approved candidates" is evidently what From means.

What is From saying? The DLC is the Democratic party.

I think not!

5. From has always hated Kerry. He usually only mentions his name with a
disdainful tone.

7. True. He never considered Kerry as DLC
He did like his education comments and his fiscal policies which are moderate, but he has never considered Kerry as DLC because Kerry is too lib.

6. The DLC understands how to successfully connive at a Repuglican Congress
something no Repuglican Presidency alone could have accomplished

9. Yes, I only saw the last 15 minutes. Should replay later today on C-Span.
Also, Peter mentioned that the DLC conference was today and that C-Span was taping it and would be playing the tape later. Tonight, perhaps? He did not say when.

11. DLC selling its snake oil again to anyone dumb enough to buy it.
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 08:08 AM by oc2002
First of all, the DLC is a thinktank for the right wing of the Democratic party, they love offshoring jobs which they call 'trade' deals like NAFTA. They love supporting the race to the bottom for the average joe by allowing all kinds of visa's and trade deals that make it impossible for joe and his children to compete.

They love to point out that Clinton was the shining example of the DLC wonder boy, who for all his successes, was still just another chill for big bussness, who reformed welfare by kicking millions off of it, and called it a success. And they love to proclaim that Clinton lowered unemployment by expanding the economy.

What they do not like to say is that Clinton was more Republican than the currnent insanity we have in the WH. Clinton in the end was a great man and President, although I disagree with his decisions.

The Progressives need to counter the DLC talking points and snake oil with a well written and articulate counter to thier BLUEPRINT for corportizing America called the 'Can-do Presidency'.

We can not afford to let the DLC run the party and pick our candidates like the are planning to do.

14. We need a Progressive Leadership Council.
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 08:44 AM by oc2002
I am not as well informed as some other folks here, but is there such a thing already? If not, we need to get some good people on it now!

Its ironic that when I google for 'progressive leadership council' it give the DLC.org as it first hit! haha!

15. Why? The DLC has co-opted the word "progressive" and use it liberally.
They think we won't notice that the DLC is not progressive where it counts--but the handmaiden for big corporations, just like the GOP.
