How long before Bush acknowledges the death of Rosa Parks?

Has Bush made a personal statement about the passing of Rosa parks?

If he has, I haven't seen it. And I don't mean some canned statement from the White House. I mean going on TV and talking about what she meant to America.

Clinton would have been on TV last night.

1. They probably have to explain...
Who she is and what she did first. His first thought was probably: "Didn't she design the flag? I thought she died years ago."

2. I say he won't bring it up. If he's asked about his feelings ..
in a press conference then he may answer it.

15. Yes, he might answer it then, but if he says something off the cuff
instead of using a statement prepared by his staff, he will probably wind up alienating black voters and lose the 2% approval rating he has right now in that group.

4. He has already commented.
He said he loved the way Rosa used to sing "There she is, Miss America" at the pageant.

6. Rosa Parks had more courage, more love, more decency than
many. What a person of conviction!!!

Not like myself, who talks, but does very little about correcting what is wrong in the world.

I would have liked to have met her.

22. Stop that talk right there
Who said you did very little about correcting the world?

Put a little perspective on -- when you get right down to it, all Rosa Parks physically did was refuse to get out of her seat, and pay a $14 dollar fine. In and of itself, not much. But it was the people she inspired who went on to change the world.

You are an example to everyone you meet, and who is to say that you haven't been similarly inspiring to someone else, maybe even without your knowing it?

Ripples in a pond, my friend. Ripples in a pond.

5. I, for one, will be very surprised if he bothers to make any kind
of statement, personal or otherwise. This is not going to register as anything of any importance to him. If he does say anything, it will be after his advisors have convinced him that a statement might raise his approval ratings among black Americans. Even then, he should let someone else write his remarks for him or he will probably blow it by making a statement that sounds condescending or insulting.

7. He will. 24 to 48 hours after he gets that he should have immediately
That is the Bush style. You know; "You mean I'm catching flak over not caring about the loss of New Orleans?. Hmmmm, OK, I'll say it's a shame."

14. Or he will wait until someone asks Bill Clinton for a comment so
they can bitch about Clinton still trying to steal the limelight. Isn't that what happened when Bush waited for days to make any public statement after the tsunami?

18. Yes, it takes a good 24 to 48 hours for this White House to address
many things. You know that in this case, they couldn't care one rat's ass about Rosa. They're probably making jokes about it.

11. He has to wait until his puppetmasters
tell him what to say, how to act, etc. He can't do it on his own. If he did, he'd probably end up asking where Rosa Park is. The man is a clueless moron and he can't do very many things without being prepped up.

12. He is weighing whether he will anger his core support
which by now has shrunken to people who think Rosa was a Commie. It's either alienate that core or the 5% of African Americans who still can think of something good to say about him. Close call.

13. I thought his black support
was down to 2%.

How fubar do you have to be to get only 2% approval from a large group of people?

16. When told he needed to make a statement on Rosa Parks, Dubya replied...
"Why, did she park in the wrong place?"

or

"What park is that?"

19. This is a man who doesn't acknowlege the death of the soldiers
he sent to fight in Iraq. That fact, coupled with the way he saw fit to treat the largely poor and black population of NO should tell you all you need to know about what he said when he heard about her death: "Rosa WHO? Never heard of her."

21. He is supposed to speak in about 20 minutes
to a group of wives of soldiers at a military base in Washington.

We'll see if he mentions her before he is asked about it.

23. Bush just mentioned her
For about 30 seconds while speaking to the wives of soldiers.

He was reading from a script. Called her Rosa Park (left off the S) at the end, too.
