Who is the dumbest member of Congress?
I don't mean somebody who says dumb partisan things, but I mean who is actually pretty stupid. For example, Tom DeLay says some pretty dumb stuff, but I wouldn't say he is stupid, by any means.

I have heard that Susan Collins isn't too sharp, but I never heard her speak much nor do I pay much attention to her. I heard John Warner isn't the brightest bulb either, but again, I don't pay much attention to the guy.

Arizona Rep. JD Hayworth seems pretty dumb to me. I read a few of his op-eds in Indian Country, a couple constituent letters and plus seen him quoted a few times here and there, as well as heard a few sound bites of his on local news. He's a typical Bush type guy, not much brains, but a lot of willingness to sell out and a lot of people around him to hold his hand so he doesn't seem as dumb as he really is.

Another AZ Rep. John Shadegg has said a few of the dumbest things I have ever heard before. Once he compared Bill Clinton to Hitler, because he saved a lot of land by making them part of National Parks and not subject to mining, forestry and oil drilling. He also said that Justin Timberlake was helping the terrorists because of the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction thing. However, he may not be dumb, he just says dumb things.

George Allen is an idiot. He might get my vote. Him or Hayworth. But there has to be others out there that are worse.

9. Mary Bono
Does anyone remember her performance during the Clinton impeachment hearings?

She should just go back to teaching aerobics or yoga or whateverthefuck she did before Sonny met that tree.

But I can also go along with George Allen. Or Norm Coleman.

The southern sentaorial embarassments (Inhoff, Sessions, Coburn et al) are merely nutjobs, not inherently stupid.

11. George Allen is an incredibly dumb senator
Remember he said something on Meet the Press about old people enjoying living in their homes because they will have to sell them someday - this, in arguing for destroying the Social Security program.

I think he will be the next republican nominee for president - one dumb governor following another.

older people can sell their homes and live off the proceeds. The home his mother still lives in in Palos Verdes Estates, CA is worth millions. He's such a moron he assumes all elderly people have those kind of nest eggs to fall back on.

Completely not grounded in reality and a phony Southerner, fake cowboy, and racist to the bone -- true GOP Presidential material.

30. I'd like to submit Jim Bunning, R-KY for consideration.
This yahoo had been beaned in the head too many times by baseballs to make a whole lot of sense.

When he ran for re-election last year he demanded the Secret Service give him special protection because he was sure that Al Queda was after him personally. Really.

Bunning agreed to debate his Democratic opponent and at the last minute refused to meet face to face (that "security" thing again) and went to the RNC Headquarters in DC and "debated" by teleconference with Democrat Daniel Mongiardo back in Kentucky at the previously planned location. What he didn't bother to tell anyone at the time was that he was getting help with his answers from staffers off camera and cue cards. Throughout the entire debate he was completely lost, mumbled and didn't answer the questions. You can't make this stuff up.

Finally, after seeing his huge lead in the polls evaporate Bunning pulled out the homosexual card and accused Mongiardo of being gay because he was too well dressed and not married. Also, compared Mongiardo's dark-complexioned to one of Saddam Hussein's sons. And it worked with all of them god-fearing christians in the bible belt.

Bunning's behavior throughout the campaign was over the top with rumors floating that he was suffering from Alzheimer's. McConnell orchestrated the entire campaign and I don't expect Bunning to last the entire six years. Prediction - Bunning will retire and be replaced before Fletcher runs for re-election. Fletcher is, also, morally and ethically challenged and has his own problems, but will ensure they get a "good" repug in the seat before being ousted out of office.

Bunning is stupid, clueless and adrift in a fog. The most dangerous kind of repug.
