Conyers:No Pardon Letter Total Approaching 10,000
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 06:38 PM by hiley
NO PARDON LETTER TOTAL APPROACHING 10,000
Congressman John Conyers, Jr.

My letter campaign to the President demanding that he pledge not to pardon those indicted by Fitzgerald was a huge success in its first 24 hours. We have already received 9,268 submissions, nearly reaching our goal of 10,000 letters. This terrific response has been a testament to the effectiveness of netroots advocacy. If you haven't yet, please sign the letter.

We are apparently one day closer to indictments from the grand jury. Larry Johnson has suggested on his blog that indictments may come on Friday and that Fitzgerald is seeking to empanel a new grand jury. Perhaps this should not come as a great surprise given the sudden revelation in Monday's New York Times that Libby learned about Plame from Cheney. There may be more to this than we had previously thought.

No More Pardons
TELL THE PRESIDENT: NO MORE PARDONS FOR TRAITOR-GATE CRIMINALS
Convicted Previously of National Security Crimes
Elliott Abrahms is Newest Figure in Traitor-gate

Did you know that Elliot Abrahms, pardoned by the first President Bush for the Iran-Contra crimes he committed under the Reagan Administration, now works for the Bush White House? And has been implicated in the leak of Valerie Plame's covert identity? Fitzgerald may well successfully prosecute senior White House officials. Insist that anyone convicted in this case be ineligible for a presidential pardon. Demand that the President not pardon any criminals in his administration who compromise our national security!

3. It's a nice gesture and Conyers is the best................
but does anyone actually think this will have any effect on bush's decision to pardon or not? bush has ignored the American public since he was first installed as president and he has no intention of listening to them now.
I appreciate Representative Conyers efforts and he's one of the few Democrats to consistently hold the bush administration's feet to the fire, but this is an exercise in futility.

13. and what's not an exercise in futility these days?
a half a million signed petition from Conyers passed through the bars of the gates to some lackey at the WH, several million worldwide gathered in a focus group protesting the illegal invasion of a country that had nothing to do with Sept11, yet seen by the delusional as our #1 enemy on the holy war on terra? Phone calls en masse to our reps in Congress? Letters demanding impeachment? Screaming at the tops of our lungs?

you're right. I guess the only choice is between the rope, the blade, the fume or the cocktail that numbs and kills. Perhaps one day someone will compile the record to show the magnitude of outrage and protest that went unnoticed against the boy-king tyrant, who single-handedly changed the world into his own domain. For surely, we just must have been wrong.

8. Done, but I wonder too if * will even be made aware of this
letter. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and his cronies. He gives lip service to "the rule of law". He is only interested in power and more power.

The GOP can not take Congressman Conyers..
Their act as if their heads may explode even when they are just asked about him!
