New line of attack by right-wingers: It was wrong what we did to Clinton |
|
http://select.nytimes.com/gst/tsc.html?URI=http://select.nytimes.com/2005/10/25/opinion/25kristof.html&OQ=nQ3DTopQ252fOpinionQ252fEditorialsQ2520andQ2520OpQ252dEdQ252fOpQ252dEdQ252fColumnists&OP=1e52659bQ2FpoQ5EQ7DpLF8Q27Q27LpQ2BQ26Q26xp)Q26pQ2BxpQ27Q22Q24TQ24Q27TpQ2Bxb8Q24FLQ27Q5CsULlQ20 Unfornately you have to sign up to read this entire article but they show the main comment made by Nicholas Kristoff: It was wrong for prosecutors to cook up borderline indictments during the Clinton administration, and it would be just as wrong now in the C.I.A. leak caseSo I guess the new line of attack is this: Let's admit that we were out of line with Clinton and then say that this is nothing but a revenge attack against the Bush Regime :puke:

4. Next: It was wrong to vote Bush into office, so... |
|
...uhm... it would be just as wrong to impeach him? Yeah, that's the ticket!

5. Oh fuck.... this kind of angle is tailor made for O'Reilly. |
|
In fact I bet this is picked up by O'Reilly and run with.
dispicable O'Reilly frames the debate to give an initial superficial appearance that he is coming from both sides but the hammer always comes swinging down on the "leftists." I just hope not very many people buy his "no spin" shit anymore.

6. Let the facts decide ! |
|
just as in the Clinton case let the fats decide just how serious or not this situation is . We as Dems know how corrupt this White house is and feel there is even more to what has been taking place then just the CIA leak .I hope everything comes out ,the stolen election, the kickbacks for no bid contracts with the war in Iraq ,and the whole Iraq war being a planned war having nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction or liberating Irag, instead war profiterring for certain people and corperations all tied to the bushes ! Hopefully once the surface is scrathed ,a bigger picture will start to appear ,one of a white house so corrupt it makes anything the Clintons did laughable in contrast !

23. The Republicans have a saying about that |
|
It is better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. IOW just do it and say you are sorry later but the deed gets done...

... and doesn't the bible talk about retribution in terms of four-fold, or is it seven?
The difference is that while you assholes hounded Clinton for 8 years for no reason other than you were pissed that Americans were sick of Republicans (but not as sick as they are now) - the crimes you are accused of and almost certainly perpetrated are actually serious.
It's a little late for mea culpas. Fuck you all.

12. It's an interesting tactic |
|
They try to back away from the hypocrite label and offer to shrug both indictments off as equal offenses--a blow job and treason.
Hmmmmmm.
Good luck with that, Fox.

19. CONTINUE INVESTIGATING |
|
Let's hope that somehow, someway the Dems can continue to investigate and, if they find what many of us suspect to be true, prosecute to the fullest. (I wonder if Scalia and Thomas will weigh in as they did in Bush v Gore?)

That's a well-reasoned, well-thought out REPUBLICAN response to the pending indictments if I ever heard one.
My response to them, if they asked me personally and in the spirit of their argument against, would be either:
1.)Nan-nan-a-boo-boo to you too, or
2.)I call the indictments ok and legal and everything, no changies, American Eagle, period.

17. That's not even a good try. |
|
Here we have a *Republican* prosecutor investigating *Republicans.* He was appointed by a *Republican* AG, who in turn was appointed by a *Republican* Presideant and approved by a *Republican* Congress. There are no Democrats anywhere in this process.
There's also a rather stark difference in the seriousness of the crimes being investigated.
To sum up: It's bullshit.

I love what these people say whenever they're in trouble. Another one of my favorites is "Let's work on the problems we have facing us right now". They never run out of 'em.

21. Nominated! 'Borderline indictments' of Clinton is BRILLIANT spin-- |
|
Nixon's henchmen perfected what Woodward-Bernstein called the "non-denial denial". Now Dubya's spinners have started to float "non-retraction retractions" of their crucifixion of Bill Clinton and his friends. By alleging "borderline indictments" of Clinton-era figures, whose crimes were imaginary, the Rethugs confess to only the slightest of slight "misjudgments". Then they use that "non-retraction retraction" to call for forgiveness of treason by Libby, Cheney, Rove and Dubya. Bravo!
