Am I blinded by partisan nostalgia or did it seem like, even with the Starr Chamber breathing down its neck, looking to turn the slightest nose pick into a major target for investigation, the Big Dog Administration continued running smoothly, missing nary a beat?

1. If 911 had not happened
I think we would have seen this in October, 2001.

4. Bill was never in this kind of trouble.
He wasn't perfect, but he still had 65% of the American people behind him, hadn't negligently killed thousands of Americans, or done dirty by trying to destroy and scapegoat the intelligence community.

Bumbling isn't the word for it.

7. Bill
held it together during a full impeachment trial, for heaven's sake!!!! Now THAT is character.

I don't care about hanky panky with the chubbette under the desk.

11. Bill will be remembered as a very, very good President. Particularly,
in light of what followed.

Makes us all appreciate that there really is a difference between the two parties. So, we have to thank Bush for making the contrast clear.

13. That reflects the corruption of One Party systems.

His impeachment was a blemish on a record of great accomplishments.

He really should have just said, "I will not talk about this incident with anyone outside my family. Period. I refuse to testify on the subject of Ms. Lewinsky - now, you can hold me in contempt, but that's the last I have to say."

That would have been the end of it.

12. These guys are missing everything
They are off their game, to be sure. They couldn't find their ass with both hands right now, and it shows.

Everything the White House touches is turning to shit. From the Bush speech yesterday at the Economic Club, to the indictments, to anything else, these people are bumbling morons.
