Bush's choice : Moderate or Right-wing Republican ?
Which will he choose? With all the shouting from the right-wing over Harriet Miers, he is being pushed to pick the most conservative nominee he can find. To do otherwise would doom the remainder of his term with his base. Democrats should prepare for the battle now. There is not going to be a moderate. Forget about it.

2. I've given up trying to predict what comes out of Commander Cuckoobananas
They're making this up as they go along.

If it's a wingnut, they'll be planning to blow up the Senate. If it's a moderate, they won't. Who knows which battle they want to have?

It's "nuclear option" time again, folks ... but this time with the WH/Repugs in a weaker position. Bring it on!

4. Neither
The ideology doesn't matter for Bush. He will pick another crony. He will see the defeat of Miers as high treason by members of his own party and he won't be interested in doing them any favors.

5. He needs the right wing hate machine on his side now
with indictments about to come down. I have no doubt that he'll pick a right wing wacko.

over. Some days I think taking it to the edge wouldn't be such a bad thing, in the long view. The moderate Republicans would have their backs against the wall, they would have to alarm their moderate bases or go against their president. Hmm...choices.
