Buchanan Just Told Tweety That After The Easy Win In Afghanistan... |
|
the Neocons convinced * that Iraq was easy and a target.
But remember - Richard Clarke indicated that * was obsessed with getting Iraq right after 911.
I don't think Buchanan's spin will hold up.

for US troops in Afghanistan. "Easy win," my ass. Illusion of "easy win." The US hasn't won.

4. A REAL journalist (ie: not Tweety) would have such facts at |
|
his fingertips and challenge shills like Pat *on the facts,* rather than letting their lies and spin go unchecked. But he's not a real journalist. He's not even a real TV host.
Tweety doesn't admire truth tellers, and he doesn't believe in facts: he admires the bobbing and weaving, the ability to parrot a lie when the truth is staring one in the face; he believes that perceptions become realities. It's all a game with him. He's busy entertaining himself.

17. If you're a Republifascist... |
|
...guest of Tweety's you can tell the biggest whoppers imaginable and he'll accept it as fact---no challenge whatsoever. Not true if you're a Democrat or progressive---he'll take issue with any departure from the facts, even if it's insignificant. Russert's the same way. Corporate media whores shilling for BushCo.

6. US and other Western Troops will remain in Afghanistan for... |

at least 50 years. The Western powers know that they must stay to hold on to that territory and get the natural gas pipe line built and protected.

I'm no big fan of Buchanan. In this case, however, both things that you cite could be very easily true, with the pressure by the neocons after the "easy win" in Afganistan being the tipping point, at which Bush was convinced to actually do the evil deed (invasion of Iraq), that he had WANTED to do for some time.

8. Never under estimate the neo-cons hubris |
|
And never under estimate Bush's and the neo-con's stupidity when dealing with anything outside of elections. Very plausible that it helped keep the move to invade Iraq going, although I think that comments from the British show that Bush considered Afghanistan a delay in his goal to hit Iraq and Blair had to convince him to strike there first. I'm sure the ease of Afghanistan would have made them even more eager for another easy victory. Also I don't know how successful it was in that we didn't get Osama Bin Laden. Buchanan has made some statements about the invasion of Iraq over the last couple of years that I actually agree with. You know how screwed our administration is when Buchanan is the voice of reason.

"we can't just cut and run from Iraq like we did in Afghanistan" they will say as they try to promote wesley clark's stay and fix it in Iraq plan. the only people that left afghanistan were the mainstream media. our soldiers are still there, unbeknownst to some clarkies and pat buchanan apparently..

Find a thread
Make something up
Bash Clark
Example: Here we have a thread about Buchanan revealing that Buchanan is unable/unwillingly to understand the time table of events leading up to Iraq. Suddenly Clark enters the conversation with skewed understanding of everything that Clark has been saying. And then the statement includes a twist to blame Clark supporters in case they should reject the statement with a claim based on pure supposition.
Fini. A Clark bash with a stopper for any rebutal.
The next step in the process is usually a pile of junk cherry picked links/quotes meant to draw people into a useless discussion. I'm not biting.
