CNN:House Republicans chop several programs |
|
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans voted to cut student loan subsidies, child support enforcement and aid to firms hurt by unfair trade practices as various committees scrambled to piece together $50 billion in budget cuts.
More politically difficult votes -- to cut Medicaid, food stamps and farm subsidies -- are on tap Thursday as more panels weigh in on the bill.
It was originally intended to cut $35 billion in spending over five years, but after pressure from conservatives, GOP leaders directed committees to cut another $15 billion to help pay the cost of hurricane recovery.
President Bush met with House and Senate GOP leaders and said he was pleased with the progress.
He also appeared to endorse a plan by House Speaker Dennis Hastert's plan for an across-the-board cut in agency budgets, perhaps including the Pentagon, by the end of the year.
"I encourage Congress to push the envelope when it comes to cutting spending," Bush said.http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/27/congress.budgetcuts.ap/index.htmlNo matter how bad things get, * relentlessly continues to pursue the PNAC agenda of ratcheting down the size of government. How about REVERSING those idiotic tax cuts for the ueberrich and huge tax breaks for megacorporations? You know, BRING IN MORE REVENUE?

1. If Shrub really wants to reduce the size of Gov't, |
|
someone should tell him how most bueinesses do it!
EVERY Dept. must cut the staff by 5%, NO EXCEPTIONS!
Everyone's salary will be cut by 10%, NO EXCEPTIONS!
Every Co. I know of has used that option, and it's NO big secret!

4. Just another nail. The repukes don't get, they are not the rule but |
|
the exception. Their nose is so long, they don't see Joe six-pack got their ticket and tore it up. Believe it or not, the out of touch of Poppy, is like a joke now.
Diebold is going to be the problem, any real voting, has them out for a long time. We have to purify our house, before Democracy can reemerge!

9. It really isn't so strange, if you look at the PR the RW wing has |
|
done. The problem is that those educated (which to my surprise is in the minority, what a great co. we have) get it. The RW is trying to shut down all routs to education at all levels. The funny thing is they haven't caught on to the Global (means no country loyalty bit), oh that's right, they are Yale/Harvard graduates and know more than us.
Should I shutup now, NOT! The announcement about Tamiflu today, was the laughable part (the demand was so great that they have to cut back on their shipments to the Us ((Super power, NOT))). I hope the Congress Critters don't get their (Tamiflu shot) too, it will be fun looking at the load in their pants.

3. The Republican party is shameless. Bush going to "jawbone" oil |
|
companies to make it look like he influenced the drop in prices when the drop occurred because the record profits could no loner be hidden and the public was about to explode. If doesn anything meaningful he should make the oil companies pay 25% of thier profits into a fund to give heating assistance to the poor this winter.

11. That H. Chavez comment was meant for another thread. I actually |
|
ran ad-aware for a perceived problem.
My contention has been for over a year that the US theocracy both Rep's and Dem's want an indentured servant program and they are proceeding on schedule. The problem is you have to learn from history, it keeps repeating itself over and over again, Peasant, Industrial, Revolution anyone?
I am not a an anarchist, or fighter of any kind, but I guess when push comes to shove we are going to learn things (Katrina, Wilma, the Pakistan earthquake, Iraq, etc.) that we will accept or reject. I didn't live Thur the Civil War (none of us did), but the Southern blood sucking (tax dollars) states better be prepared to stand on their own (not possible), but they continue to divide the country the leeches are are still sucking the blood out of Northern states.
Time to kick Ed G. on his butt, the Southern strategy is falling apart and the stupid (not all Southerners are stupid) are going to fall into their own created crater. As Forrest Gump said "Stupid is as stupid does!". I for one, am going to stop the NJ milking to the Southern state. If we want people to educate themselves, they actually have to demand it.
What southern state has academic ratings near any northern state? My God Texas probably has the highest % of rich people (mostly frauds) however, and what is their academic standing.

7. Republicans make all these cuts because they know that |
|
the Democrats will be back in office soon and will be FORCED to eliminate the tax cuts, etc of the Bush program and this will of course make the Dems look bad and they can be called the party of tax increases.

13. Few people noticed today |
|
They slipped this through on Fitzmas eve so even we were not paying that much attention.
Cutting of student loans really concerns me. A way to get more cannon fodder for Iran and their other global conquest obsessions? Not my kid, you evil bastards.
