While Harriet Myers was the great unknown, with speaches, and positions on both sides of many issues, we are now free of the great unknown, and thus thrust into the even greater unknown. Who will be named next?
While many of my friends disagree, I think the Bush Cabal will put up Janice Rodgers Brown for the open seat. I know, they are reluctant to trust an African-American with anything more important than bussing a table at the whites only club, however here are my reasons.
1) It gives them the chance to claim that anyone opposing her is a racist/sexist. After all the first response from the White House to the Fascist Right Wing nuts was that opposition was sexist in regards to Myers.
2) They hope to juxtapose the pictures of Democratic Party Members opposing her far right views and mis-represent the Democrats as being against Affirmative Action, and perhaps grab some of the African American Vote.
3) The debate will compete with if not overshadow any indictments that may be coming down (I still think that the end of the CIA investigation is going to be anti-climatic)
4) They hope to trigger a filibuster on Brown, and use the Nuclear option to eliminate the super majority "60 votes" for ending the filibuster on nominees, and pack all courts with far right wing loons.
Finally, I don't know why, but I had a hunch for a while about the Myers Nomination. I mentioned a while back that I thought it might be a political trick from Rove and the Cabal.
I am very concerned about this, while Myers was an unknown, a crony, and an obvious hack choice, we didn't know what she thought, or if she thought, anything down deep. She might have been a yes woman to Roberts/Scalia/Thomas, or she might have been more inclined to think for herself, and thus support Ginsburg/Kennedy etc.
Now, we know what he will put up to silence the far right wing fascist base. We are going to get someone who is well right of Hitler. Someone who confuses the 10 Commandments with the Constitution, and thinks they are linked or interchangeable.
I will close with one last prediction, I bet the nomination is today, Friday, as an effort to divide our attention from Plamegate.
