DUer in Local Election Appears Headed for Photo Finish
For those of you who want a little respite from the anxiety over Fitzmas Day, here's the run-down on my election bid.

First off, out of nine candidates, six will win. All six incumbents are running again. Tye (the most popular), Maguire (appointed following a death of a member) and me (Ciarlone) are the progressives in this race. I have the only Union endorsement.

I have worked my butt off all year. My home town newspaper evaluates the race. It is tough to follow, in that he puts seven of us as potential winners in a race with six seats.

Some of you have shown interest in my attempt at campaigning as a DUer, so here's the article.

P.S. Thank you for your interest and input, and I will post the results following the election on Tuesday, November 8th.

2. Wow! Good press!
Your campaign machine must be outstanding!

And you must have an incredibly high Q rating to get such good press!

Sometimes all of the elements click.

I'll PM you with some possible last-minute campaign actions.

3. Thanks for the respite and the good news, Lou.
Ciarlone has run about the most effective and compelling political campaign this time around.
He has campaigned harder than all the others and has paid closer attention to numbers, and voting demographics. He comes from an old Revere family with a name long associated with politics.
He has strong union support, the kind that works phone banks and contribute money and bodies.
If all things are equal – and they rarely are – he gets a seat, and he might even do better than that.

Sounds like you're doing a heck of a job. Well done, bro!

When you're elected I pledge not to seek political favors. :D

10. I just had them

two nights ago. They sure were good.

I like to eat at Kelly's about once every two months.

We had a candidates' night at the Satter House, which is right next door to Kelly's. That's when I had them last.

The Revere Advocate newspaper (which has no internet access and is distributed free) wrote in their analysis of the event "On the School Committee side, Louis Ciarlone, while referring to his notes from time to time, was the most organized in his thoughts."

I have been quite fortunate in having good press. Next week, I expect a favorable story in the Boston Globe and maybe the Lynn Item, both widely read in Revere.
