3. Now is the time
to read the history of the Watergate scandal.

There was nothing connecting the burglary at the Watergate with the White House until the burglars had pled guilty before Judge John Sirica (known around here as "Maximum John" for obvious reasons).

Faced with serious sentences, one of the burglars, James (?) McCord, wrote the judge a letter, telling him that they'd pled guilty only because they'd been pressured to by people at the White House, mostly notably John Mitchell.

Sirica refused to accept the pleas, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The most significant turning point was when John Dean sang to the committee.

So, keep in mind that all these things take time. Libby doesn't want to do 30 years in the slammer, so it might be interesting to see what happens next.

I wonder, though, exactly how rugged these neocons might be.
