The Press is a Frog - The Administration is a Scorpion
"Can you give me a ride across the river," the Scorpion asked the Frog?

""Oh No! You would sting me and I would die", the Frog told the Scorpion.

"Trust me...we have a lot in common", said the Scorpion.

"Well, if you promise that you will not sting me", said the Frog.

"Of course, I promise not to sting you"

So the Frog gave the Scorpion a ride. But when they got to the other side, the Scorpion did sting the Frog and as the Frog lay dying, he said, "But you promised not to sting me if I gave you a ride..."
"But you knew I was a Scorpion..."

And so it is now. The Scorpion is not going to change. It doesn't matter that some might go to jail. Do not be deceived. They are still Scorpions.

1. Not any more
The frog decided to take a dive, and the scorpion is drowning in the middle of the river.

Screw protecting sources, when sources are using you, lying about you, to advance their own ends.
