I hate America.
I hate the America that gets into their Hummers to drive three flat, dry, cemented blocks to their million $$$ mega-church to pray for the troops.

I hate Brit Hume this morning and his "hose you down" statement.

I hate the mom who shakes her head in patronizing sorrow that my daughter doesn't come to church on Sat night, Wed. evening, and Sun. morning.

I hate our leading mayoral candidate who has put "Take back our city from those without faith" and his "solid belief in christ" as his #1 and #2 campaign slogans.

There are some very ugly americans and sometimes I can't help hating them.

I wish I had grown beyond hate by this time in my life.
I'm still working on it. I guess I could change the words to "dislike greatly", but that doesn't convey my feelings this morning.

I need to take a walk and appreciate some fresh air, fall leaves, and kids laughing.

:hurts:

On Morning Sedition with Air America Radio. He rocks and that title says it all with these hypocritical fools. They do not give a damn about Jesus, they worship money and hate anyone who is outside of the womb. They have literally crapped on the word of God and made it into a bank account.

Since right wingnuts run the show in all forms of government right now, they are responsible for EVERYTHING that is happening right now locally, nationally, and internationally. Every child that starves ~ their fault. Every homeless person ~ they are the ones perpetuating it and who cause it with their oily greed. Every community that is poisoned ~ their fault they care more about the corporations than they do Americans. The thievery and money grubbing in our government~ all on them. Every single person killed in Iraq, ALL THEIR FAULT, they are so violent they LIED about it all. All the deaths of nuns, priests, children and innocents in S America - they did it. Every rich person that benefits while the rest of us starve ~ their fault. he reason the rest of the world looks at us in contempt ~ they made this. The shame of the media's lack of anything that connotates fairness ~ they are the oines cramming this crap down our throats. If every liberal said this from now on, every time there is some kind of problem: "It is ALL YOUR FAULT!" They could not say a word about it. All together now: IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU RIGHT WINGNUT RELIGIOUS DEATH CULT NEO-NAZIS!"

When people accuse me of hating America I agree with them. I give them the list above as to what is their fault and add that they are smearing my good name by doing it in my name. I love most of the people in this country, but I hate the government with all my being. I am a liberal christian and I am ashamed of these people. Jesus said to hate the sin and boy do I hate the actions of this country especially when it is done by people in Jesus' name! I wish I could move to Canada, but I do not have the sheepskin or the family ties I need and I would have been outta here 1 day after 2004's fraudulent sElection.

My 2 cents

All they care about with the government is having rightwing lunatic judges who will vote against Roe V Wade. They don't care about actual people. Just converting people to their ideal of Christianity. They don't respect anyone who is different such as immigrants and gay people and other religious belief systems.
If you talk to them about actually helping the poor they make excuses and they don't want national heatlh care and they hate social programs that help people. I can't stand it either. And they oviously don't respect the Constiution/Bill of Rights unless it works for them. They're always whining about being persecuted when it's them doing the persecuting on anyone who is different.

But do I hate AMERICA? Fuck, no.

But I also know there's nothing we can do until November 2006 and 2008. It's just a matter of surviving that long. And that I intend to do. It's the one freedom we still have: Our votes.

14. We can vote, yes, but it only matters who COUNTS the votes...
if you can't VERIFY that the vote counting was accurate, your freedom to vote is worthless. And you can't verify accuracy anymore...Diebold and the Repukes have seen to that. I'm coming more and more to the belief that only bloody revolution can set this poor country back on the right path.

10. Well, hating a country or its government is a choice enjoyed by
all peoples. There were plenty of Germans who hated Nazi Germany and Russians who hated Stalinist Russia.

Increasingly, "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" here in BushAmerica. If you disagree, check out the so-called "Patriot" Act.

Get a degree you say? hmmm yea just what I'm wanting to do but explain to me how landing in 40,000 of student debt is supposed to help anyone?

Let me see so people who don't like it here who are borderline poverty what are they supposed to do? I mean we can do so much with our minimum wage nationally set at 5.35 an hr.

Moving costs?

People who say this well if you don't like it or move statement.....anger me.

I refuse to give up ground to these monsters. My people were dragged over here or came over here 350 years ago. This is their country more than it is Bush's elitist, manicured family of money-counters. To suggest that all of America IS Bush, is a grave insult to generations of decent, hard-working people who've never harmed a soul.

It's as unwise to equate America with Bush as it is to equate fascism with Europe.

It is IDEAS you hate ....

It is those people who harbor THOSE IDEAS you hate ....

NOT a nation ....

NOT a land ...

NOT a noble idea like Jeffersonian democracy ....

Using words like these give a false impression of what WE are saying here ... you are throwing the bathtub out with the baby AND the bathwater still in it ....

I LOVE America .. it is a wonderful land with 'mostly' wonderful people .... By using such broad terms, you lose the detail necesary to confront what is wrong ....

16. I hate that we feel it necessary to lie to ourselves to feel better . . .
about a country whose history is clouded with genocide. We tell ourselves that the Indians really wanted to help the pilgrims out on Thanksgiving, when in actuality it was more about the pilgrims stealing food from the Indians because they realized they had gotten in over their heads.

I hate that the dominant society will not be happy until all of the land is covered in pavement and concrete.

I hate that Christians feel the need to "save" me because NDN people "don't know God."

I hate that we lie to ourselves about being involved in foreign affairs in an attempt to save oppressed people from their leaders, yet we still allow the US government to oppress its people.

Despite all of this, I don't hate the country. My people have been tied to this land since the beginning of time. And it is ours to improve or destroy. It will only be through love of this country that we will make improvements.

23. thank you for that post.
I'd also like to move that America is not the land itself but the name given to it by Columbus. I mean he did discover it when no one else was here so he should by all rights be able to name it.

Even then AMerica as we know it is not a name for a land it was an idea. An idea laid in the grounds of the constituion. An agreement by the people of this land's consent for government. That idea is rapidly approaching its death.

"I hate that we lie to ourselves about being involved in foreign affairs in an attempt to save oppressed people from their leaders, yet we still allow the US government to oppress its people."

I just wanted to also add to this statement of US backed governments that have oppressed and killed their people.

24. we need to look at this in terms of people, not nations
Every population that has supplanted another population has done so by genocide, including my grandmother's people (Native Americans). It is the nature of the animals we call "human". That said, the idea of evolution is advancement from primordial selves.

Every human being has the same problems as other human beings, expressed in different ways. There are no angels or demons, only people. Once we get past pointing fingers at others and examine our own hearts, maybe we'll find a way out of the wilderness. Maybe.

30. I think we are on the same page, we just don't know it . . .
I agree that pointing fingers is a negative behavior. Negative, but sometimes necessary. Realizing that the history taught in a majority of schools is more a matter of perspective rather than the truth is a big step toward bringing solidarity. Once everyone has had a chance to tell their story, then we can move on. Then we can see one another in terms of commonalities rather than differences. Taking the time to acknowledge the perspective of those who were on the side that lost is a positive affirmation in recognizing the struggle they have had. Pointing fingers aside, the story needs to be told and remembered if for no other reason than making sure it doesn't happen again.

I was taught and believe that all people are tied to the land. If we take that belief and expand it to the country of America, it seems rational in my mind that love of the land equates love of the people. There is no hate for me other than the actions of people, rather than the people themselves. Sorry if there was confusion. I think I have found my way out of the wilderness. However, whether or not we have found our way out of the wilderness should not keep us from talking about the wilderness.

36. Yes, very true...
It seems people/nations try to sweep the "proverbial" misdeeds of their nation/culture underneath the rug. This country is no different in that need to "sweep things" underneath the rug. The stories need to be told, because in truth only side has been taught to a majority of the schools in the USA. We are taught as young kids, that Christopher Columbus found America (actaully his real name was Cristobal Colon) and that his "finding" of the America's should be celebrated. Like you said, both sides need to be heard.

Very good post, you seem very articulate...:)

25. Maybe it's more exasperation than hate--
the people bugging you are more ignorant than evil.

Christianity substitutes for an intellectual community for those who
are too lazy to read actual books or discuss actual ideas.

But if the American people knew what we know, a howl of rage would
rattle church bells in every burg in the land.

You can work against the ignorance, you can garrison with like-minded
friends, you can seek to subvert the wavering. Have you considered
moving to another state?

By all means, enjoy the clear skies and the autumn sunshine. (Maybe
it's winter's nearness making you cranky?)

31. Love America, hate Americanism
As in "love the sinner but hate the sin."

You're right, of course, in that you need to take a deep breath, and remember that this country has produced a lot of great people. I'll let you come up with your own examples.

It's not America you hate, but a small minority of Americans who feel that the only way they can feel good about themselves is to tear other people down.

There's nothing more annoying than to have your parenting skills called into question. It's like driving. We all like to think we are good drivers, and good parents. Many of us are not (not you, I am sure). Remember that people love to judge, and ask yourself why it is that this person needs to put you down? Such a person is very far from the true spirit of Christ and Christian fellowship. They must have a sense of deep-rooted inadequacy that comes from somewhere. I'd try to find out where it comes from and to help them.

As for your mayoral candidate, this is obviously an ugly, cynical appeal to people's prejudices. He deserves to be exposed.

32. Courageous, honest post by asseenontv
Half-way through my 50's, I no longer recognize this country. It's as if this country has borrowed a script from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". I woke up one morning and though the physical environment looked familiar, villianous pods had replaced the media and government.

In very low moments, I too feel that I hate America, at least what it's become. And I am tortured by the memories of what I remember when I was younger, a progressive, forward-moving country.

My thoughts go out to all who feel this genuine pain.

stay if you have to or want to -- go if you have to or want to.

but have a good life -- it's the only one you have and that's what's important.

''love of country'' is a pretty sentiment -- but with little substance.

46. I LOVE America. I hate some of the people in it & the govt we have
I love this country and that's why I'm here, fighting to take back the government.

This country allows free speech and that's why, despite the fact that I hate narrow minds and people who are ugly (in thought and action, not looks), I will defend their right to say what they believe. And, I will fight to change their minds and help them see the errors of their ways.

I hate people who cheat and lie and steal and hurt the rest of us and that's why I will raise my voice and see that they are prosecuted.

As a Christian, I hate those who kill and take from the poor and look down on others because they don't pray or love the way they do. I hate that they have hijacked my religion and are using it in all ways and manners that are the antithesis of what the religion and its namesake stand for. And that's why I work to counteract their actions daily.

I say these things with the utmost conviction because I too felt as you do. After the 2004 election, I looked into moving abroad. I felt this country was no longer the place for me. But, after some soul-searching I realized that these radical neo-cons are just like the Moral Majority - they are in fact an immoral minority. They just speak loudly and pretend they speak for many. But it doesn't take much to uncover them for what they really are and I owe it to myself, my country and the other citizens who won't speak up yet to expose them and help this country get back on a better path.

I love this country too much to leave it to them and when you come right down to it, if anyone's leaving it should be them - they are the ones who don't believe in democracy, not us.
