Introducing a Caste System into America
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 12:55 PM by ck4829
It's hard to do, but it is possible to turn a Caste System into Republic which has it's economy based on Capitalism.

If the system is made so that the Wealthy and Elite can easily maintain their status and the poor find it nearly impossible to climb up the ladder of society, then yes, we are looking at a Caste System.

The Caste System that can be introduced using the premise I stated can come around by:
Trickle Down Economics
Tax Cuts for the Rich
Banning Abortion and/or Contraceptives
Dismantling Public Education
Corporate Welfare
Welfare 'reform'
Social Security 'reform'
Abolishing the Estate Tax
Other methods

1. I submit a caste system already exists.
It just has not been investigated enough to define the lines of distinction 100%, but I see it working on a daily basis.

4. Let's not forget credit cards
I was shocked to learn that it's now legal to charge 29% interest on these. 29%! and that's not for "high risk" borrowers, that's the default rate for anyone who ever misses a payment, pays too little, etc. Good thin I don't use them, they are a conspiracy to suck the money out of working people and put it in the pockets of the rich.

And let's not forget student loans. Screw student loans--higher ed should be free! If you have to ration it, ration it based on merit, not on money.

Finally, there's our medical system. Let's say you are old. Let's say you have, by some accident, bucked the system and actually accumulated some money. Let's say you get really sick at the end of your life, which is usually the way it works out. Guess what--doctors now get to take all your money! And you still wind up dead! With festering bedsores! Our current system is absolutely designed to suck every last penny out of you!

5. Thirty years ago, a 29% interest rate would net the lender ten
Ten years in prison, that is, the moniker of "Loan Shark" and an investigation into organized crime connections.
