We KNOW Saddam HAD WMD
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 02:06 PM by serryjw
at some point,we gave it to him. Where did they go? Scott Ritter as of '98 said they were not there. Did our threat of the invasion send the weapons to Syria? Did UMSCUM really destroy ALL of them?

6. "WMD"s
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 02:19 PM by Moochy
This newspeak term is rated double plus good, it's ambiguity as to specific sub-type of weapon system obfuscates the distinct threat signature of each sub-type. This achieves the maximum terror effect by invoking the vague term.

Peace is War

(on edit removed non-words as ruled by Newspeak dictionary 2007.)

7. Saddam used them against Iran
Iran used them againt Saddam, which gave the US reason, part two, to invade.

Villagers claimed that the gas that killed them was scentless, which means it was a nerve agent, coming from Iran.

8. Well the best ones we did not want and walked away

In the Garden of Armageddon

News: They were Iraq's only real WMDs. The U.S. refused to secure them. Now Saddam's nuclear and bioweapons scientists are dispersed and more dangerous than ever.

I MET THE MASTERMIND of Saddam Hussein's former nuclear centrifuge program outside the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad a few days after U.S. troops took over the city in 2003. Despite the midday heat he was dressed in a sport coat and tie, which made him look incongruous amid a scruffy crowd of protesters gathered to shout slogans at the U.S. Marines guarding the hotel. He said his name was Dr. Mahdi Obeidi, and he showed me a printout of a prewar Washington Post story in which he was named as one of the Iraqi weapons scientists whom the U.S. government had very much wanted to interview. His eyes darted nervously back and forth between the protesters and the tense-looking Marines inside the cordon of concertina wire.

A very scary read. The US did not want the scientist, they just wanted the bombs that did not exist. Good article...

9. Saddam and his people destroyed all of them
under UNSCOM hectoring and relentless sanctions...by 1996.

They were gone at that time, and everybody knew it.

But, because everybody wanted to keep the sanctions on in order to force Saddam from power, everybody pretended that they didn't know it. Including Clinton and company, whose greatest failure in office was not coming up with a different approach to the Iraq issue than the outrageous sanctions, which led to the death of almost a million people.

10. Gone via multiple routes.
Many were used during the Iran/Iraq war(s). Some Saddam used against his own people during uprisings. Some were destroyed during Bush41s GW1. Some were destroyed by Arms Inspectors. Some degraded over time. (Most have a limited shelf life.)

Items I've read have been uncovered during searches were all either degraded beyond usefulness, things like artillery rounds which could have been loaded with WMD material, but weren't due to lack of WMD material, or components that only MIGHT have been related to development/production of WMDs.

No smoking gun.
