DECADES OF DUMPING CHEMICAL ARMS LEAVE A RISKY LEGACY
SPECIAL REPORT: The Deadliness Below

Weapons of mass destruction thrown into the sea years ago present danger now - and the Army doesn't know where they all are.

BY JOHN M.R. BULL

October 30, 2005

In the summer of 2004, a clam-dredging operation off New Jersey pulled up an old artillery shell.

The long-submerged World War I-era explosive was filled with a black tarlike substance.

Bomb disposal technicians from Dover Air Force Base, Del., were brought in to dismantle it. Three of them were injured - one hospitalized with large pus-filled blisters on an arm and hand.

The shell was filled with mustard gas in solid form.

What was long feared by the few military officials in the know had come to pass: Chemical weapons that the Army dumped at sea decades ago finally ended up on shore in the United States.

It's long been known that some chemical weapons went into the ocean, but records obtained by the Daily Press show that the previously classified weapons-dumping program was far more extensive than ever suspected.

The Army now admits that it secretly dumped 64 million pounds of nerve and mustard agents into the sea, along with 400,000 chemical-filled bombs, land mines and rockets and more than 500 tons of radioactive waste - either tossed overboard or packed into the holds of scuttled vessels.

..more..

1. I am so sick of all of this...
I am so tired of government agencies destroying the planet and endangering its inhabitants without recourse. And then we have corporations that kill thousands or spread carcingoneic chemicals, and are merely *fined* for millions.

When are we going to say enough is enough and make this a world worth living in??

How much more of this will we sit back and take? I'm tired of bending over and getting raped -- emotionally, physically, financially. Aren't you?

3. I disagree.
With 'peak oil' or at least the fear of; those bastards are culling their own US population by offshoring and saying it's good to do.

We die for them. Though out of starvation rather than something nice and painless because we're a "pro-life" nation. :eyes:

How they will deal with China and India later on is irrelevant.

But let them continue fucking up the planet. Karma will kill them too.

5. So you'd rather sit back
and let them kill this planet and its inhabitants?

4. From Evan S. Connell's "Points for a Compass Rose" (1973) . . .
If I should remark that in the Pacific depths
bubbles trickle ominously through concrete boxes,
what would you answer?

7. these same twisted bastards used to use whales for bomb practise
i remember reading about this years ago, and loathing the chuckling fool tone that the writer used (the story was about the buldup of the navy air force)
at the same time, there were vast numbers of servicepeople being shipped oversseas (my foster father/uncles among them) and almost all of them suffered from seasickness....while marijuana cures motion induced nausea, the racist pigs who chuckled at using whale pods as targets for antisub bomb practise knew that pot, in tea form, could stop the seasickness in most cases, yet because of a political agenda, never mentioned, pot was illegal, and is still illegal!
the real nasty secrets the piggy will die rather then allowed them to be revealed, so you can imagine what they've done! hitler never happened in a vacuum, as the lying liars try to pretend
