Pakistan news: Bill O'Reilly angers American Muslims
WASHINGTON: American Muslims have expressed outrage following the assertion by popular right-wing Fox News host Bill O’Reilly that Muslim holidays should not be observed since America is a “Judeo-Christian country”.

On the October 27 edition of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly called the idea of closing public schools for the observance of Muslim holidays ‘absurd’. He made the remark during a discussion with Hillsborough County (Florida) Commissioner Brian Blair, who opposed the Hillsborough County School board’s decision to keep public schools open on Yom Kippur and Good Friday during the 2006-07 school year, a departure from the school district’s earlier practice of closing schools on those days....

In his discussion on the question with Blair, Bill O’Reilly said, “So a Muslim wanted a Muslim holiday, which is absurd in a Judeo-Christian country. I mean we can’t be having Hindu and Buddha. I mean, come on. I mean this country is founded on Judeo-Christian traditions.

Those traditions have been in play for more than 200 years. Christmas is a federal holiday. You know, somebody walks in and says, ‘Well, I just moved here and I want, you know, this Shinto shrine.’ And you’re going, ‘Well, look, this is a traditional American situation that we’ve done for hundreds of years.’ But now you knocked it out.”

3. I don't know any Muslim Americans that watch Fox News
That being said. Some school districts still don't allow Muslim children an excused absence for Holidays.

5. This Muslim saw that episode of O'Really
If we were a Christian Nation, then Trickle Down Economics would be abhorred.

If this nation were Jewish, the Far Right would be abhorred (because about 98% of them are Anti-Semitic).

10. indeed....
By the way, which of the founding fathers were Jewish?

By O'Liely's reasoning there shouldn't be Jewish holidays either.

9. he is a bigot
and i resent him constantly complaining about the borders. he always talks about the poor people of arizona having to pick up the bill for the illegals.

well i live in arizona and i don't have a problem with illegals (of course, i don't want al-quada coming into the country) but these mexican people bust their asses doing jobs that americans won't do. i see them out in the hot sun working 8-10 hours and no complaints.

i caught a bit of geraldo rivera on o'reilly's show they other night and geraldo said that he had done research and al-quada was not crossing over the mexican border -- that they come in from canada.

7. I do not know about Judeo but this country has forgotten the
views of the Christian faith, a faith based on forgiveness, love, and charity. The Christian faith has been usurped by blaphemists like Bush and the war-mongering Right wing.

8. He doesn't get any viewers w/o saying BS like that
Bill the Shill's viewership numbers have gone down as the median age of his viewers has gone up. So he appeals mainly to grumpy old RW farts.

But he wants those college republicans like Ann Coulter attracts with her outrageous hate speech because they are a more appealing demographic to his advertisers.

He wants to be hated, there's good money in it. Just one more reason not to watch.

12. Just to let you guys know about Brian Blair...
Some of you about my age (27) might remember Mr. Blair as half of the WWF tag team of the Killer Bees.

That's Blair, known as B. Brian Blair then, and his fellow Bee "Jumpin" Jim Brunzell.
