Yes, that's a soundbyte from one of the newer drug ads.

Am I the only one that's bothered by the underlying message?

3. Hmm. Is the ad for parents who steal their kids' pot to smoke it?

4. Yeah, I saw that one too...
And as a parent, I resent the propaganda. Here's reality for those bastards.. I'd much rather my kid were roasting a bowl now and then than sucking down a bottle of JD and spending money on Camels.

5. I'm definitely bothered by that one
I always think anti-drug ads are crap, but that one's particularly offensive to me. The follow-up will be "Lying to Your Kids to Save Their Lives? Do it!"

6. I totally disagree with that ad
the implication that Mom/Dad's recreational drug use shouldn't alter their approach to talking to their kids about drugs. Look. The kids know. They know, Mom and Dad. They know you smoked pot and occasionally, used other drugs. And they also know you continued to go to work every day and continued to be parents...every day.
Drugs didn't ruin your lives or those of your friends.
So. The message of "just say No" isn't going to work. Be honest. Explain that drugs are illegal. Explain what that means. What having an arrest and conviction can mean. How future plans can be totally changed by breaking drug laws.
But don't lie through omission. Your kids aren't stupid. And you do a disservice by acting as though they are.

7. I posted about this a few weeks ago
and I agree with you on this. It is a terrible message both for the specific issue and overall.

11. My message to young America: get high now
"Pot? Sure, Junior, I smoked "the Weed" when I was younger. Now see here, son: drugs are illegal. You get caught doing--let alone selling--drugs, you will go to jail. You could lose your job. Your wife will leave you, taking the kids with her. You'll never get to be in a position of responsibility again, unless you run as a Republican for president, but that's another story."

"That's why you should do all the drugs you can, now, while you are in high school. We both know that you can do the academic work while you're asleep--why not try doing it high? You will never have better access to drugs than you do now. Plus, you don't have any responsibilities yet, and if you get caught, we'll put you into a drug treatment program. You won't see the inside of county, I can promise you that."

"Later, when you're older, pot will probably have no more effect on you, other than to put you to sleep. Plus, you'll have other things to do, and so won't have a lot of time to be scorin' the weed, getting high and hanging out. So my advice is to spend all your time stoned now, and cut back when you hit college, as there are actually more interesting things to do in college other than stay high all the time."
