bush and his cronies will still get what they want.

the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

what the fuck is the point anymore.

I have been really happy lately and it had nothing to do with politics, I had even been not listening to the radio.

Then today the preacher of all things tells the congregation that "scooter" was a good guy but only lied 4 times.

I was sooooooooooo mad

hubby says he was just using it as an analogy...I said doesn't matter, now all in attendance will not listen to the truth that they committed TREASON

fuck it all I am sick of this world

1. What kind of church are you attending?
I hate to say it but it is very disturbing to hear about a minister spouting RNC talking points from the pulpit (if I read you correctly.)

I think there are lots of people here at DU who don't want that either.

Take a break from it all. Find a friend to talk to. Everybody here needs that from time to time.

15. I am just tired of the struggle, the dissapointment
the crap and people that think its okay.

I am not anyone special, I am a teacher who works hard for my students, I am a mom, a wife and sister and daughter.

I will never get a book deal because I snagged a killer, never get a new house because someone signed me up for extreme makeover, I work hard and my hubby works hard

recently we have taken in his brother and wife and their 2.9 kids (new baby is coming friday) because they got evicted from their home.
While I love them, now my house is not even my own and they can't help it, they struggle worse than we do

When does it get better???

this world is shit and won't get better

19. Maybe not right away.
But look at it this way: you just made the world better for your brother and his family. And you probably make it better for your students every day.

Life isn't fair all by itself. The world can be shit, and won't get better all by itself. That's why we all have to hang in there, make it a little better for each other in the little ways we can.

Hang in there.

13. I am the Human Hater...
I can't stand how pathetic, ignorant, petty, selfish, small-minded, vindictive, self-righteous, materialistic, and short-sighted these idiot Humans are... did I mention ignorant?

They make this world a truly shitty place when it could otherwise be cleaned up and functional almost overnight to the benefit af everyone on the planet if they weren't so God-Damned Fucking STUPID!.

Now ask me if you want to know how I really feel.

But I have both hope and faith that humanity will eventually shed itself of these childish and ultimately self-destructive tendencies to one day transcend our current state and reach our truly divine potential.

Until then... I with you. And it will be people like us that eventually bring these things about.

So stick around.

26. Hey, I agree.
When I kind of stopped caring, things got better. That sounds so negative, but what I mean is, it just sort of turned me into someone who cared just enough to be a real work horse on this stuff, but not caring so much that I just DIED everytime there was a setback.

So hell yeah. Just plow on ahead. Know how to take care of your own emotional and mental health by taking media blackouts, etc (those are GREAT), but then just jump back in full strength!

It's great.

Greenbriar.......
Please... Please.... Please

You don't have to give us one iota of your own personal information, but PLEASE ---- will you tell us the name of the church?

 What that preacher did was DEAD WRONG !!!

Absolutely nothing will change if the media is not contacted and the name of this church is not brought to light.

I live in a red state by presidential voting only - Alaska - (the majority of Alaskans are registered Independents)... but I can guarantee you, if a preacher of any church in this state said something like that, it would be massive news here and the entire state would be outraged.

Maybe your state isn't the same way as far as ensuring politics aren't brought into churches -- but none the less, it is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG for them to do this.

Will you please relay the name of the church? The complaints to the media can be strictly anonymous by anyone here who is willing to contact your local media --- but DON'T let them get away with this!!!!!

Which church was it?

35. You made me remember something.
Years and years ago, the husband and I were going to a United Methodist church in another (still southern) state.

The minister was MARVELOUS, truly in the fashion of the old-style social justice/peace-oriented UMC ministers of the old days.

Well, a few Sundays in a row, he kept preaching on the same topic: the teachings of Jesus to give away/turn away from material possessions. He used different quotes each Sunday.

I looked around me at women in fur coats, men in very expensive suits, big diamonds on womens' fingers, and after church, piling into expensive cars and going out for lunch.

It was such a moment of disconnect. I started wondering if the people sitting in that church were just tuning him out or getting pissed. Shortly thereafter he was "re-assigned" to a different church.

Ahem. Cognitive dissonance hurts!

46. Life is SO RARE in the entire universe and
that makes it extremely valuable. None of the planets in our
solar system can support life. Too hot, too cold, no air etc.
Not only that but the nearest solar system similar to ours
is LIGHT YEARS away. In other words, it takes light many years to
travel from them to us. That is like Billions and Billions miles away.

And the other suns in our universe may have very few planets similar
to earth. It has to be just the right distance from the sun so it
is not too hot ot too cold, has to have just the right size so that
it can hold on to atmosphere with gravitational force. If it is too
small the air escapes, if it is too large, nothing can grow out of the
ground and the water can not form clouds which culminate in life
sustaining rains.

My point is, we are truly a miracle form of life, and we should
celebrate our existence and not waste it by destroying our life.

53. Greenbriar...
We all carry a load of pain. Right now, you are hurting a lot. You have a child, and you must think about what pain your absence would cause that child, and the children you teach. I had a brother 3 years younger than me, who had been hurt by the world, and was disillusioned. He took his life 14 years ago. He had one child, my niece, who was 20 then.

She now has a 5 year old son, and she and I grieve that he could not live to see his beautiful, special, wonderful grandson. It will forever pain his widow, his child, and his sister...me...that the love we gave him was not enough to give him the strength, or the courage he needed to face life. We would have done anything for him, just to keep him in our lives.

Do NOT let Bush, and his corrupt cronies, keep you from cherishing and loving the life you have, or the ones you love, and love you in return. I wish there were something I could say, or do, to make you realize that here, in our own cyber world, you are valued and respected. Even a pastor can have an error in judgment, and it sounds like yours does.

Please, do not go down a road from which there is no return.

50. my religious friend and i talking yesterday about the wrongs
the church and people are committing in the name of the lord. talking about a specific event, some parents telling their children my niece and her father not christians

my friend was bothered, but she said, well, we are all sinners

i stopped her there. i told her that isnt good enough for me anymore. anytime i bring up the christians that tell me how i am suppose to live, yet they dont walk the talk, everytime i am told "we are all sinners" excusing that behavior. yet..... all the rest of us, we are evil, heathens, nonchristians, the whole world, but this group

i no longer accept the out for these "good" christians, we are all sinners

i tell my religious friends, i wont support christianity at this time, when they have walked away from christ. i speak up always.

more people do it, they will start thinking, once, twice, maybe thrice....as they are being preached to by ministers that abuse their power in hate, to create fear.... so people will follow

i havent given up. so many i know have been brainwashed in a short period of time. but things are right in their face, they will see. many will see

i dont let creationism slide, without me challenging the lie in it. lying to protect god, or the bible. how absurd is that. i am bold and in the face.

i told friend, working from old testament, church now is into putting the bushel over the lite, whereas jesus says, remove the bushel, be light.

but I believe that god is love and love is god. It's all we have. I love my family, I love my home, and I love things that are real, though reality can hurt.

We have to keep addressing what is real, and never give up and be silent. And take breaks when it gets to be too frustrating.

I am with you several times a day but I cannot give up - I will soon have a child and I will protect my chid's homeland.
