Chimp to make SCOTUS nomination announcement tomorrow (FauxNews)
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 08:36 PM by jefferson_dem
...and they would know.

Reuters confirms http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051031/pl_nm/bush_court_dc

Alito and Luttig are current frontrunners, in that order, according to the proverbial "sources."

1. Time to dust off the fillibuster machine and.......
grease the bearings. This will be 15 round title bout with both sides throwing haymakers.

9. We dont have the votes to sustain a filibuster.
Some Democratic Senators are from deeply red states, making them DINOs.

10. Really depends on the Candidate.
If Janice Rogers Brown gets nominated there damn well better be a fillibuster.

4. Ironic that Faux has Ollie's War Crime show on
Oh just too many levels of inadvertent subtext going on here.
hilarious for it's obliviousness.
Ollie should hold a mirror up to the Bush reich:
Instigating War
Crimes against Peace
Crimes against Humanity
etc etc

5. Won't it be interesting
to see if President Hindenburg and Stock Trader Bill still have the muscle to keep the moderates in line for a wacko like Luttig?

7. I don't see it.
If Frist couldn't pull off the "Nucular" Option then, when he had the backing of a popular whitehouse and was a leading candidate for president himself, I don't see him being able to do it now, given the whitehouse problems and Frist's own plummeting political fortunes. Moderate republicans in blue states are looking to saved their own bacon now, and standing tall with the president at 39% is probably not looking all that smart right now.

8. IMO
The GOP is looking for a stand to show they're united and as much as it pains me to say it, they could see this as their shining example of unity.

I sure hope not but its a possibility.
