You know Bush won't announce the next SCOTUS pick until Rove is indicted.
So he can deflect attention off Rove.

You know that, right?

1. I'm not so sure. I think he might announce to deflect the attention now.

2. I think he will, as promised (threatened?), announce
the SCOTUS pick soon - to attempt to deflect attention from both the Miers fiasco and Libby.

I'm sure he'll come up with something else for Rove. (Terra, anyone?)

3. The WH has already announced that he will name new one tomorrow AM!
The announcement was that he would name the new candidate either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I think they'll stick with that.

6. He hasn't stuck to being a 'compassionate' conservative...
...so why expect him to stick to this?

7. Oh, I suspect he will nominate a strict conservative!

8. Tomorrow or Tues for SCOTUS announcement
I doubt Fitz will indict Rove that quickly. He'll have to ask another grand jury to indict. He may have already presented the case to them, he may not have.

Bush expected to announce Supreme Court pick Monday

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush is expected to announce his new nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday as he tries to battle back from a series of difficult developments last week.

White House officials were not talking about who Bush had in mind for the nomination to replace loyalist Harriet Miers, who withdrew from consideration last week under withering attack from conservatives within Bush's own Republican Party.

But Republicans close to the White House expected Bush to pick from a short list of highly credentialed, solidly conservative judges.

Among the candidates most talked about were appeals court judges Michael Luttig and Samuel Alito. Bush considered candidates over the weekend at his Camp David retreat, aided by Miers, who is staying on as his White House counsel, and White House Chief of Staff Andy Card.

10. Yep. I think he'll nominate Emilio Garza tomorrow.

The media whores will immediately shift their attention from one 'John' to another. In that fashion, the CIA/Plame news will be limited to three days of play. Subsequent stories will be off the front pages for quite a while.
