"The GOP wouldn't give Miers an up or down vote, so the Democrats
don't have to give Alito an up or down vote."

Just being in their faces with their own hypocrisy is enough.

6. Yes, but
as I seem to be repeating an awful lot around here, we aren't talking to the GOP. Our talking points are for the American public. The same public that can't seem to digest anything but pithy statements.

7. In their dictionaries, it's just another adjective to describe liberals
(the problem is "context" - they don't understand that concept).

Kinda like "honesty" and "integrity" and several other words of which they have no idea the underlying meanings . . .

3. Talking point? So what?
The next nominee will be confirmed. Talking points are meaningless when there is nothing behind them.

5. I agree..
.... I wouldn't have agreed just 2 months ago.

The pukes won't dare pull the nuclear option. The ones with a brain in their head realize that their control of congress is likely to be over in 2006. They can no longer afford to set the nuclear precedent.
