4. could be, he wants to live w/ his wife again... |
|
...since we're speculating. Maybe *he* has no place for AAR after Nov.
Seperations are bad for relationships, and I sensed some tension when I heard him talk about a visit his wife made to NY this past summer. Maybe he has something lined up in LA for next year.
Best of luck to him, whatever happens.

5. I know I'll catch hell for this.. |
|
... I listen to AAR in Dallas from time to time.
I like Springer, he is not hard-hitting but I think he connects with the swing voters.
I like Randi, she can be a bit abrasive, but this is radio. Abrasive sells.
I love Malloy, he's crazier than I am, and that's a good thing.
But the few times I've tuned in to the morning show, I cringe. The most amateurish skits I've ever heard on radio, and that's saying a LOT. I like MM, I used to watch him on Comedy Central doing stand up, and he is a talented guy. But that show sucks and I'm not going to miss it.

6. no hell--that's your opinion..... |
|
I like the variety especially at 4AM in Denver. Even if you don't like the skits, Mark and Mark were among the first to get some of the most topnotch interviews--which is amazing at that time in the morning, even on EST. Major DEM pols, Iraqi based reporters, Joe Wilson, Richard Clarke, many others....

7. No hell here - I'm in agreement |
|
I can not listen to that program unless there are guests on.
Maron is so way over the top with the perpetual skits and his "look at me - I'm funny" shtick.
Moderation, Mr. Maron, moderation.

15. I listen to AAR while driving around for my work. |
|
I can listen to Springer, Franken, and Rhodes. I simply cannot listen to Morning Sedition.
I liked it better when Rachel Maddow and Liz Winstead (sp?) were on the air. They were my favorites.

Once you get used to it, it is actually one of the funniest and smarters political talk shows on commercial radio.
Maron is like the Id of progressives, saying the stuff we often are thinking.

I don't listen to any of Morning Sedition anymore, and haven't for months. I switched off after hearing one of the skits bomb, which was clearly offending one of the hosts and had degenerated into direct abuse.
I personally won't miss that show either. Mind you, I don't switch the web stream back on until Randi Rhodes - not a fan of Springer or Franken either.

That format is not working.
I'm sorry, but political shows and stations should talk about politics ALL the time... especially now. There have been times that I haven't heard any political talk on the way to work, and it takes me one hour to get to work.
I am also a sports fan, and it drives me crazy when sport talk stations talk about anything but sports.

... to me, the abject buffoonery on the morning show just dilutes our message.
Yes, radio should be entertaining - but these lame skits are not funny, they don't have good satirical value and they do not add any "gravitas" to the AAR effort.

That's one reason I can't listen to Mike Malloy for too long. It's like the same note held for three hours.
The variety is the main reason Morning Sedition is so good. And if you truly want a "zoo crew" show, listen to Stephanie Miller. She has a funny show, but she really needs to lay off the sound effects.

To say nothing of the show saying... "Stephanie Millllllerrrr!" a thousand times an hour. Drives me up a fucking wall.
I listen to:
Morning Sedition every morning on podcast. EVERY morning. Mike Malloy almost every evening. Occasional Franken. Occasional Majority Report. Very occasional Randi. (She's good, but not my style. She walks all over the callers and guests.)
The best hosts on AAR: Mike Malloy -- Progressive radio needs a fire breather. That's Mike.
Sam Seder -- Golden with callers. Great talk.
Marc and Mark -- Best issue framing on progressive radio. Nobody holds a candle to them in that department.
Rachel -- Rachel is tight and extremely well produced. I wish I could listen to her (2 AM--Arrgh!) but I don't want to lose Morning Sedition to have that.
Laura -- Extremely well informed.
Ring of Fire -- Good stuff. Listen every weekend.
Randi -- If she lets others talk, she can be very good. But I'm not a big fan because mostly she doesn't.

I love that show. It somehow manages to make me laugh every morning. Plus, I think Marc and Mark have the best on-air chemistry on the network.

He's funny, the other Mark guy is a little stiff to me and there's some goofy punk kid who laughs like a pimple-faced fratboy doing a junior-league Ed McMann impression...the show has gotten annoying at times that I actually switch to NPR...egads...some good skits that equally have sophmoric crap...
What rocks is the first hour of Stephanie Miller...I crave the Right Wing updates...
All I can say is that they better not put on the Springer twit...oi....what a predictable show...
