Coincidence - I Think Not - Just As *'s Poll Numbers Hit All Time Lows....
and with all the major hits he has taken in the last month or two - War going bad, Katrina fiasco, Miers, Leak/Indictments, high gas prices - the talk over the weekend was the * is going to have to readjust his course for the last three years of his term.

Lo and behold what's happening - gas prices are easing and coming down - beginning to take away one of the most potential damaging issues that could keep his poll number going south.

1. I Think There's Another Thing At Play
Last week, (i think Monday and Tuesday) lawmakers on BOTH sides of the aisle were making noises about a Congressional investigation into price fixing, gouging, and windfall profits.

Suddenly, gas starts coming down 4 to 7 cents per day for a week. Don't know that it's Silverspoon's numbers as much as the fact that there is no shelter from the storm when R's and D's start talking that way.

6. Hey all you guys?
Take a minute to look at prices of diesel.

Not only have they NOT gone down, they have gone UP. Diesel is more than a dollar a gallon higher than regular right now. That should tell you something.

12. Noticed The Same Thing
When the cost of goods delivered goes up, then Senators will start making noises about that too. When they do, prices will coincidently fall.

2. I paid $1.99 for Regular last week
in Mission, TX. But Bush had nothing to do with it. The hurricane premium is wearing off.

8. Wow, that's a good price - Utah still regular average $2.60
the disparity state to state is stunning, regulations or not...

10. For now, it's a good price. Actually, it's a terrible price!
I'll give them $1.25 - $1.50 as a fair price. It's real easy to fall into thinking $2.00 a gallon gas is a good price. Establishing this kind of thinking is something they set out to do a year or so ago.

3. Seasonal adjustment.
They will go back up. China continues to demand ever more oil, and so do we, and so does the rest of the industrialized world, and there continues to not be enough new oil coming online to meet that increasing demand. Prices will continue their erratic upward motion. Don't be confused by the occasional drop.

4. Don't worry - they'll go back up again, soon.
Just as soon as the outrage over record quarterly oil industry profits subsides. Then, there's the inevitable crisis in the Middle East as we move on Syria and/or Iran.

Get ready for $5/gal. gas this time.

5. We see this morning how well he is "readjusting his course".....
"* is going to have to readjust his course for the last three years of his term"

He might be "smart" to, but that's the ace in the hole, that he won't.

9. Congress also just gave
big oil more tax incentives to build refineries, on top of the incentives and breaks given in the energy bill. This call for excise taxes and profiteering is disingenuous at best. Big oil will be repaid in full for getting bush, cheney, rice, rummy and group elected and it will be at our expense one way or another. Tax breaks or higher prices or both.
