No one deserves an UP OR DOWN vote! |
|
No one deserves an up or down vote. They deserve the right to get to that point which means they must be interviewed by the Senate, hearings must be held, the candidate must then be forward to the Senate for a full hearing, or filibuster.
NO ONE DESERVES AN UP OR DOWN VOTE!
Ask the other "honorable and qualified" candidate Harriet Miers.

I would support Senate rules changes that guaranteed a fair and timely hearing in the Judiciary Committee, none of the BS the majority Republicans pulled during the Clinton years.
And then I would support the elimination of the filibuster, through a formal rules change, that would guarantee an up or down vote in the Senate. I believe that through the filibuster the Senate is denied its constitutional role to give advice and consent to nominees by not allowing a vote.
I don't mind waiting a few years for this to happen.
