59. Unless he's hawking a war, tax cuts, or terra, then, yes, I think it
is too much to ask. These subjects interest him, so his attention span is a little longer, and when discussing death and terraists to try to scare the American people into giving him what he wants, he doesn't make quite as many mistakes while speaking. Not much else of consequence to our spoiled little prince.

10. I think I'd look the same if I was forced to attend Augusto Pinochet's
funeral and hear people go on and on about how great he was.

Right wingers hate the good guys as much as we hate the bad guys.

If you don't believe me, some knuckedragger wrote this at some Web forum:

"Pathetic Ebonics appeasement.
Every Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airman that gave up their life fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan deserves to be viewed in the Rotunda a million times more than some black chick that refused to give her seat on a bus about 50 years ago.
They don’t put Congressional Medal of Honor awardees in the Rotunda so why the hell should they put this bitch there?
It just shows how screwed up the priorities of this country have gotten. Political correctness has gone amuck.
Piss on the shitheads that made this decision."

who doesn't want to call any attention to the deaths of service members. I would love it if they could be honored that way, too!

Rosa Parks deserves this. It's the least we can do, as a nation. And it's not just about her, but honoring the movement her action sparked.

THAT probably pisses them off a lot, too.

13. Observations from CNN coverage last night
First, about the little boy next to Bush*: He said something to Dubya and Dubya acknowledged and shook his hand...then went immediately back to the "1000 yard stare" that you see in the pics.

Second, I think the pic of Laura above is an abberation. I thought her deportment during the ceremony was okay. In fact, I think she controlled herself much better than Bush*.

Third, I think Bush* was absolutely horrible at concealing his impatience to get out of there. He certainly didn't want to be there.

35. Considering that Rosa Parks symbolizing "Speaking Truth to Power..."
...via civil disobedience, there's little wonder if Bush thinks honoring Rosa and her defiance of "evil-doers" is an irritatingly self-defeating act.

Speakers at recent anti-war rallies have said regarding Cindy Sheehan:

"Rev. Jesse Jackson (in Wash DC) thanked Sheehan for bearing witness in the tradition of Rosa Parks, Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman."

"In a fiery speech before introducing Sheehan, Maupin compared her to Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr."

...not only that, but I'd guess that even out-of-touch-* must have a clue that Ms. Parks was highly unlikely to have numbered among the 2% of Black Americans that supported his presidency.

I wonder if the other factor in the Bushes' snapshot demeanor is that the room is filled with people that believe in civil rights and civil disobedience to secure their rights.

Considering his administration, * is honoring a symbol of courage to stand up and defy the likes of himself and his administration.

Awkward, that.

He is the worst president ever, bar none. He is worse than Nixon.

Yes, we have many threads here that discuss how awful he is. In quite a few of them, you seem to disagree. That is so odd.

Bush sucks. In every way, large and small, he sucks. He is a lousy president and a lousy human being. He has no respect for his fellow man. He gives lip service to being a Christian.

You're darn right we are going to talk about how awful he is. This is DU. The D stands for Democratic - as in "not Republican." We don't drink the kool-aid here.

Find me a picture where he ISN'T doing, saying or looking stupid. You won't find one.

I really don't know if he's the worst prez or not because I'm not really a student of presidentail history. I guess time will tell. Lousy human being? Never met him, but one clue is starting a war with little or no provocation, so I'm inclined to agree with you there.

using the morning hours to trump his latest SCOTUS pick. He has no sense of decency or proportion to historic moments like today's memorial service. He stepped on Rosa Park's moment in history as surely as he slaps all Americans in the face with his current nomination. What will the press say about this? NOTHING. They'll pretend that dems are spreading ethnic slurs about Alito. And they will not look at the dirty tricks and bad judgement of the repubs.
