DeLay's Lawyer Contributes to Kinky Friedman Election Fund!

Nine contributors — including Dick DeGuerin, an attorney for Rep.
Tom DeLay — paid $5,000 for a round of golf with Nelson, Friedman and Ventura. DeLay recently stepped down as House leader after being charged with money laundering and conspiracy.

"I'm a yellow dog Democrat, I represent Tom DeLay and I'm for Kinky — I see no contradiction there," said DeGuerin, an unpaid adviser to Friedman.

1. DeGuerin's a cool guy, but he's not politically savvy guy.
DeGuerin's all about himself. Supporting Kinky is just his way of proving to the world, and to himself, that he's a cool, independent sort. He doesn't have any higher purpose. He's an attorney, so I don't hold his defense of DeLay against him--that's his job.

Kinky's campaign slogan is "Kinky for governor--why the Hell not?" Cute, but it sums up how seriously he takes the campaign. It's all a PR stunt for him, he's not interested in winning. And he does inspire the best bumper stickers. I saw on they other day: My governor is Jewish songwriter. It even looked like the religious stickers! I laughed for twenty minutes.

Hopefully he won't put Perry back in office, but since there's no chance in Hell a Democrat will win Texas, it's not likely he'll do any harm.

Now if the Democrats do start polling well, I'll be very angry at Kinky!

2. I just had to post this because I think it's too darn funny!
I'm not taking Kinky seriously either. As for electing a Dem for gov, might be too soon to tell. Perry was not impressive in handling Rita, and he is dimson's bosom buddy which won't bode well. Time will tell.

3. There's an outside chance
I saw a poll that a majority of Texans--over 50%--call themselves Republicans. That's hard to overcome. But who knows? Things are pretty bad in Texas.
