How Do We Prevent Dubya's Comeback?
After the last terrible week for dubya, William Safire is predicting a comeback. He was on Meet The Press w/little Timmy
1. We passed the 2,000 mark of death in Iraq
2. Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination
3. Indictment of Irving Libby
These are the factors in the trifecta against b*sh which Safire says creates a very negative narrative and dubby will soon pop back.
Here is his potetial positive list:

1. Constitution in Iraq
2. Domestic Spending up 3%
3. Roberts turned out excellent
4. Benanke(sp) turned out excellent
5. New supreme court nominee on the way

I could see by dubya's last words last week that he was going to try to shift the focus by bringing a new supreme court nominee.

So, how do we prevent his comeback or will he continue to melt?

4. Keep on about the fact...
...Dubya lied when he said he would remove anyone involved with the leak. Rove was clearly invovled, yet he's still got a job. Make that point everyday. Start keeping count.

16. Starting from the time he enters the WH on Mon. morning...
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 01:33 AM by Canuckistanian
Write LTTE's asking them to investigate why the WH has started no proceedings of their own by now, as required by law..

And what about the promise Shrub made to fire whoever was responsible?

3. O think the "culture of corruption" phrase is the best!
The list of Pub corruption is very long. You don't have to stop at the Wh, you can go through the whole Party! There's a list on DU that lists most of the Pubs who are under investigation, already been indicted, or already been convicted! It's very long and it encompases almost every State!

I think this is the way to go with the fight! Forget about burying Shrub, He can't be elected again! Bury the whole Party!!!!

There's enough national news to do it. DeLay, Abramoff, Frist....

Dean has it right. It's the entire Party!!!

5. We work our asses off getting Democrats elected in 2006.
Volunteer, organize, run if you have to. We start beating them where it actually matters.

Meanwhile, write letters to the editor, write op-eds for your local newspaper, talk to anyone who will listen. If you really want to get involved, form a PAC and solicit donations, then use the money for some form of public education--mailouts, commercials, etc. Whatever you can do to keep Bush's crimes in front of as many people as possible. The more people give Bush a hard time, the more he will be perceived as failing.

It's all about perception. The media made him look successful when he wasn't. We need to make sure people can't ignore his failures anymore. Some of that is easy--the economy is barely afloat, and after this winter's heating bills, most people will understand his failures in a personal way.

6. Georgie doesn't have a comeback...
... i.e., he's Texas toast.

Anything he does from now on will be suspect. If he starts another war, as I suspect he might, he'll go down in history as a mass murderer.

Dubya was doomed from the day he stole the election. Like Mickey Rourke's character in Angel Heart, the devil has had his soul for decades. He's been tracked down, and he's been owned. The only thing left now is the denouemont.

8. His momentum has to do a 180 first
and it's nowhere close to that now. It's not in the chimp or his cabal of sycophants and handlers to do what that would require. Numerous acts of leadership in contravention to the desires of their corporate masters would be a good start. See what I mean? That will never happen. It's down, down, down for the Rove and his meatpuppet.

Bad for Bush: Cold Winter, High Fuel Prices, Torture Photos, More Scandal
He isn't off the hook yet. Karma is gonna have it's way with him then drop him in the brink.

There is more bad tidings on the way.

Floridians are already getting restless after having gone more than a week without power.

And the investigation is NOT OVER YET.

11. Oh yeah, the bird flu and martial law on the way
I also forgot to add that Judy woofwoof helped bolster Safire's bs with on of the favorite freepin lines,"the dems don't have a coherent message".
Now could someone tell me why the dems after 5 years of this coup that "we" do not have a coherenet message. I don't even think it is the message per se, but the lack of spine.
:toast: Here's to Rover going down soon!

12. If the President comes clean, that's the only way his numbers could go...
back up.

Bush needs to tell the American people he misled them into war, and that he will withdraw forces in an expedited manner. And then follow up to make sure this is done.

That's his only hope.

13. got this fron NorCal-DFA
It was posted last Thursday, so update accordingly, but the points are worth remembering because we need top stay focused on these ARE criminals, all the time.

"...It's high noon in Washington, DC. And the President's hired guns are about to bust through the saloon doors with double-barrel propaganda a’ blazin.

Here are some pointers to prepare for the news that is about to break...

Events will move fast and will be full of fireworks. These are serious crimes that have been commited: purjury, obstruction of justice, leaking national security secrets. The people who committed the crimes are the top aides to the President (Karl Rove), the top aides to the Vice President (Lewis Libby) and potentially others. So, given the power of these men, we can expect that the President has a strategy to deflect blame, to distance himself from those aides who have been named as criminals, and to undermine the authority of the Grand Jury issuing the indictments.

Be mindful when listening to today's news, and CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING SUGGESTIONS:

----------------------------------------------------------

1. The White House will be running a communications strategy, so beware of anything they say. In the past 24-hours, the President has given a series of speeches discussing every aspect of his presidency (e.g., business as usual). But they will go on the attack very soon.

2. Listen for magic words. Expect the White House to try to control debate by repeating keywords over and over again. So far, they have been quiet. But the specter of 9/11 is never far off. Beware of White House spokesmen who try to discuss 9/11.

3. Stay focused. The real issue tomorow is crimes committed by the White House to trick the American people into supporting a war. There is no other issue that comes close to this, tomorrow.

4. Do not talk about whether we should stay or pull out of Iraq.
That is an important topic, but it will be a distraction tomorrow.
The issue is crimes committed against the American people by top officials at the White House.

5. Read the White House website. This will help to understand what strategy they are launching.

6. Use only the President's name. This crisis is about the President of the United States, the people he hired, the decisions he made and the methods he used. Do not get distracted by too much talk about the names of aides.

7. Read a variety of news sources. Follow the story in a variety of media (e.g., print, TV, blogs) to get a full picture of what is going on. Don't become a CNN zombie.

8. Talk to co-workers and friends about what's happening. It is important that all Americans follow what is happening. Spread the news. Be the media.

9. Keep following the story. It is likely that the story will change several times before it is over...."

Already this morning, it is the Supreme Court nomination of Alito. Amazing that we don't get a chance to talk about High Crimes and Misdemeanors this week.
I'm beginning to not care about the Supremes. This is all the right has been on about since the coup. Dubya should not be appointing anyone; he should be back in Connecticut on a boat somewhere. If his appointments are made during an unlawful takeover of the US, can we get rid of them?
:argh:

Edit to correct Judge Alito's name.

14. There's no comeback.
Barring a full-out attack on America by a foreign body, Bush can't recover. For lack of a better political cliche, it's the war, stupid. Once you lose popular support of a war, you're just plain dunzo in American history.

The Democrats and Independents, or at least the ones whose faith he won after 9/11, aren't coming back. There are even moderate Republicans who won't come to his defense.

It's kind of like what Bill Maher said on Friday night's show... the remaining 39% of people who approve of Bush are the same people who believe Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church.
