Investigate the price of gas..
Heard earlier on one of the news program. How many want to investigate the obscene profits of the oil company while the rest of us are struggling with keeping our cars running and our homes warm.

And I have to wonder how many of those who are upset and who want to investigate voted for Republicans.

Because, hey, they believe in free market. And if a corporations can make money, good for them. And, of course, we do not believe in government intervention, the so-called "nanny state." We let the market determine our behavior. So if people are cold, let them move to Florida, or Arizona. If they cannot afford to drive their cars, let them walk, or hitchhike, or move close to their work place (until this job is gone).

But just with stem cells. These self-centered hypocrites all of a sudden support a government intervention when they personally are affected.

It is only us, "bleeding heart liberals" who think of the common good, or the welfare of complete strangers even though we may not be affected at all.

Perhaps someone posted the story on the LBN..

1. It's obvious that many GOP voters don't really understand what...
they are voting for. They want "free markets" but hate "price gouging." They hate "environmentalism" but they also get upset if somebody starts drilling their ranch, or the land that they like to use. Or if somebody finds a new superfund site underneath their gated community.

2. And now Congress want to cut many from food stamps
I wonder what percentage of people on food stamps are in red states

And here is a letter in today's WSJ:

Uproar Over Profit? Why?
November 1, 2005; Page A17

Am I missing something? The Oct. 28 Journal reported oil company profits of 10% to 12% of sales and everyone is in an uproar ("Backlash Spreads as Profits Surge at Oil Companies," page one), and Congress appears determined to interfere (again) in the market system. But on the same day, you reported that Microsoft's quarterly profit was 32% of sales ("Microsoft's Earnings Climb by 24%").

It would seem that a capital-intensive business like the petroleum industry warrants a decent profit that will encourage additional investment to solve our energy semi crisis.
