4. You're not confused
but I am disgusted with those vowing to vote against their own interests because there may be some Dems who haven't reached their desired level of perfection.

A Dem has a wart? Off with his head. Where is the Red Queen in this Wonderland?

10. Bergen County
Northeast Bergen to be more precise, about 5 miles from the GW Bridge.

12. Cool
I'm fifth generation Jersey, with the first three generations born in Jersey City. I was born in Somerville and so were my kids.

23. What town?
I grew up in northeast Bergen County (Cresskill to be exact) and still have friends living there. I loved living in a town with a brook (the Tenakill) that ran north just like the Nile - especially when just over the cliffs the Hudson was running south.

25. Well, I would prefer not to say
I have been stalked online by wingnuts, some of whom have tried to track me down.

But if you are from Cresskill, you would go west from the monument to get there.

Not a problem. I understand. I really like the towns to the west of the Monument. LOL.

9. I agree with you on this one
Someone started a thread about who was going to support Bush in this nomination and the name Joe Lieberman immediately came up. And yet no one does any research to notice that Lieberman has supported every filibuster the dems have had and his one of the biggest allies for choice.

But since a DU posted he's going to alienate in this nomination process well I guess then Joe is going to reverse decades of choice voting in order to appease DU's worse imagined fears

17. LOL, one of them even said Corzine
even though that is ridiculous and he isn't even going to be in the Senate after November 8. But, hey, why wait to see what the Dems will say when you can threaten them and feel empowered for doing so?

2. 'Democrats should stand together and oppose this nut'
is somehow equivalent to 'kill all the democrats'?

OK.

You should ignore DU.

3. Lots of posts already lining up the Dems for execution
Lists of likely Dem traitors though hardly any of them have said a word yet.

"I'll never vote Dem again if they don't go to the mattresses on this one" and blah, blah, blah.

Never mind that it was Bush who made the draconian choice. Somehow it falls upon the Democrats because they cannot walk on water.

5. Again - we are calling for our Party
to stand and fight. That is not a call for execution. It is a call for party solidarity. We certainly will be scornful and consider withdrawing support for each and every member of the Democratic Party who cannot bring his or herself to the line here. Why shouldn't we? This is a core issue.

6. Many of the posts are in the nature of threats
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 03:21 PM by Jersey Devil
Look at the page and all you see are threats.

Well, I am going to vote for Democrats. If all those who have taken their solemn vows want to vote Republican to punish Dems who do not do their bidding exactly the way they want it done, then when Republicans win more seats in Congress and a Repub is again elected President, I give them all a rousing standing ovation for their stupidity.

11. I'm making promises
and unlike most poltiicians, mine is a promise I intend to keep.

I am not making threats.

I have drawn my line in the sand and stated my minimal level of acceptance. If the Democratic Party crosses that line in the sand, that party will no longer be acceptable to me.

16. Sure, Dems who don't do absolutely everthing you want = Republicans
Even if they are with you 90% of the time or more, they are nothing more than DINOs.

What you want is the messiah, not a politician.

Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 03:40 PM by Walt Starr
This is a core issue. This is it. Either they are Democrats or they are Republicans in Democratic clothing.

This is the final straw. No further. No more. This defines the Democrats forever.

Filibuster, or die. It's their choice.

20. Ninety percent? What world do you live in?
So if they vote for the war, for the Patriot Act, for SCOTUS who are anti-choice and most likely anti-gay, how the hell are they with me? What? They show support for labor when you twist their arms about it? Is that being with me 90% of the time?

26. can I get some numbers?
voted for the war
Republicans 100% Democrats ? (and the Democrats added conditions before they supported the war)

voted for the patriot act
Republicans 100% Democrats 97.7% (or did more than Feingold vote against it?)

for SCOTUS Roberts
Republicans 100% Democrats 51.1%

From 2002-2004 when Democrats controlled the Senate. Democrats lost four seats or so in 2004. If not for that, things would go our way a little more. If we had Daschle instead of Thune, Mondale instead of Coleman, Carnahan instead of Talent, then we probably would see better results, and better SCOTUS nominees.

18. I agree 100%, Walt.
Why vote for democrats who support extreme conservative SCOTUS who will adversely effect the country for decades?

For me it's not even a choice "between Republicans and Democrats acting like Republicans/" It is a choice between Republicans and Democrats who promote and maintain solidarity with Republicans.

We will never win this way. We will only become the enemy that we are fighting against. You can't work within a fascist dictatorship for regime change. You have to stand up to it. We need leadership now more than ever.

21. You are right
I'm likely on a list somewhere but too old to give a "darn".
If the Democrats go on allowing this regime to run it's course, I don't wish to be in that party any longer! If they let every criminal out of prison this week, the crimes against society couldn't get worse. The deaths attributed directly to this regime is in the thousands and the theft and stealing from the people is a greater amount than all robbery in the public sector for the past half century!
It would be better if this whole administration were sharing the cells, going hungry, be in need of medical care, be in Iraq, or just have to live the rest of their lives on SS alone!
Every day we have less, they have more, in money and power!
They certainly have proved "crime pays", and the bigger and more, the better it pays! Big enough, and you can have a military to die for you and courts that will never condemn you for anything!

28. Ah what a crock of shit that is.
You started this by saying that DU was full of posters calling for the execution of Democrats. You have cited not one post to prove your case. Now you are claiming that you are being trashed for saying you will vote Democratic. Cite one post for that bullshit. People here are stating their belief that this SCOTUS appointment is a core Democratic issue and the the party should stand and fight. You seem to be playing some wierd-ass troll-like game. Have fun.
