Do you have time to volunteer for Reform Ohio Now?
If you're living in Ohio or surrounding areas, please consider donating some of your time to phone bank, place yard signs, drive people to the polls, hand out fliers, whatever else is needed.

I volunteered last week in Belmont County and I found out today that there are only two people signed up so far in my county to do phone banking next weekend. One of them is me and the other gent is driving over from West Virginia. The local Sheetmetal workers union is graciously donating their hall for volunteers. Unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO are lending their halls to RON volunteers all across the state. The unions are also asking that volunteers get signatures on a petition to raise Ohio's minimum wage in 2006. If ever there were worthy causes, these are it.

Of the major newspapers in Ohio, only these newspapers have endorsed amendments.

Press Endorsements:

* Akron Beacon Journal (Issue 2, 4)
* Athens News
* Cincinnati CityBeat
* Daily Standard
* Elyria Chronicle Telegram (Issue 4)
* Lancaster Eagle Gazette (Issue 4)
* Plain Dealer (Issue 2)

We need volunteers this weekend very badly to help spread the word to the outlying rural and suburban areas. 4 hours of your time, that's the minimum it takes. Please help.

1. RON needs help!
I'm knocking on doors here in Delaware County and phone banking. Let's just say I've been lonely.

The last 10 days will mean the difference between victory and defeat.

The more the merrier!

2. Lonely, yes indeed
Except for union members I don't know many people who were even aware the amendments are on the ballot. I haven't seen one yard sign. I plan to change that this week, even if I have to drive all around the stinking county myself. ;)

3. I've put out about 25 signs so far.
Some have been in place for a while and the thugs keep stealing them from certain locations. I'll keep placing them right up until the 8th.

I know it's an off year election but I really don't understand why people have been so blase' about these issues.

Where are all the Ohioans who feel last year's election was unfair and manipulated - that votes were suppressed and even miscounted (to be generous)?

I know these ballot issues don't solve all problems but they're definitely a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

Why wouldn't we capitalize on this opportunity?
