Ed Schultz Radio Show should be mandatory listening.
I have grown to find listening to the Ed Schultz Show an essential tool for being in the loop. I sense he is the #1 Left talk show host. The Congressional Democrats seek him out, the political insiders do as well....He is commanding.

I did attend his show last Friday in Columbus. It was so comfortable and enjoyable....to be with your dem-friends, local and national political candidates and to talk about the issues while being engaged by a terrific host. I was in heaven.

Today's Show!

1. I think it all depends on where you are coming from as a person.
Myself, I'd rather listen to Mike Malloy or Randi Rhodes. Big Eddie is just not my cup of tea.

I myself like Al Franken best but I listen to many others including Schultz and Malloy. I'm bummed that AAR is getting rid of Marc Maron tho.

22. whats the deal with the Morning Sedition?
I have heard them hint about it, but haven't heard the whole story... care to enlighten me???

I have to say even though I love Randi, the Morning Sedition is a show that I rely upon.... I will be sorely disappointed if they replace them.

I'm more of a Stephanie Miller and Mike Malloy fan. But if you like Ed than go for it. :) He has some good interviews sometimes. I think he's good to have though to reach out to moderates and people fed up with Bush who might not support a democrat unless they knew more. We need a variety out there because there are all types of people out there and stuff. :) There should be something for everyone. Does he archive his show??

I wish they had a re-run of her show.. She rocks!

I think you can get it at stephaniemiller.com, but I know you can subscribe to it in iTunes.

Or did you mean that you wanted an over the air broadcast?

The reason they air her starting at 5 a.m. is because she has a ton of fans here in Anchorage that want her LIVE.

Incredible actually how many people from Anchorage call into her show! She is very much loved here! :headbang:

2. On this we can agree. Ed Schults has spent a lifetime in the media.
He knows how to "work things" within it. Schultz knows that you must get your voice heard or else you have absolutly no chance.

I am part of an Ohio nurse group starting a Nurse Democratic Caucus with a PAC. We are working on the by-laws as I type. it will start in Ohio but then go national. Thats where I plan to excel and work in Washington, D.C.....

We will actively support Democratic issuers ANA won't touch because they graze on both sides of the fence.

Did ya know; 1 in 50 registered voters are nurses! We Have The Power if we gather the team.

Ed Schultz wife Wendy is also a nurse!

28. Conservative nurse told me this last summer.
Economic Boom: costs increase, while nurses' wages remain relatively fixed.
Economic Bust: costs and wages remain relatively fixed.

Nursing is one of those professions for which the demand remains fairly constant regardless of the state of the economy. So a bad economy works to a nurse's advantage; and a good economy, to a disadvantage.

27. Big Eddie directly connects with the huntin'/fishin'/football fan...
who also happens to think that the hard-workin' people in this country are getting hosed by a bunch of rich old white guys in $3,000 suits.

Whether some of the people on DU like it or not, that is a HUGE demographic to be mined, one that neither the GOP NOR the "hard left" truly represent. Ed Schultz appears to resonate with this group quite well, and that's why he has the most popular "progressive" radio show in the country.

I enjoy Ed's show and listen to it every day. He was a major champion of Cindy Sheehan before the rest of the media even really caught on. He doesn't screen his calls, and I have never heard him fail to shut a rabid wingnut down with anything but the most efficient common sense.

Unfortunately, they've done their jobs so well that there is a large portion of society that really DOES feel like the Democrats or a bunch of effete snobs who want to go into their houses and take their guns away. Big Eddie plays against that stereotype.

Remember the Reagan Democrats? The Republicans welcomed them. We have to welcome them BACK; particularly if we are going to take over any congressional committees.

Also listen to a little Morning Sedition on the way to work in the AM regularly and recently have begun listening (in small doses) to Randi's show.

Democrat 1971-1976
Republican 1976-2000
Independent 2000-2004

I guess officially again a Democrat when I vote in the 2006 primary but as a increasingly progressive independent I already have ticked off one of my Republican cousins by trying to point out to him some of the flaws and hypocrisies of the * Administration.

with his awesome memory and command of the facts.
Thom Hartmann is great, too.
"Big Ed" cannot apply the smackdown and doesn't put much work into learning the issues. He doesn't get it. He was screaming "I THINK HARRIET MIERS IS GONNA MAKE IT!" long after it was obvious she was toast.

claim to own.

Today I heard a Republican from Ohio call in and say he "agreed with Ed more than he cared to admit." Then he went on to say that Ed should be heard on Arm Forces Radio.

He 's reaching those people who were talked about in WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS. Those Red Staters aren't going to read that book, but they will listen to BIG ED.

I also love Stephenie Miller. Al Franken can be pretty boring, but has some good guests on his show.

Chicago radio. He's in his 90's now a bit too old for radio shows, but he can pack a good punch in an interview. If you read his books he really could pull the liberal out of a conservative. He's still writing.

it is great to hear Americans from all over, even the koolaid drinkers call in and Ed calls them on spouting talk points.

I have been saying for months, here on DU, that WE could create more of a stir if we organized and called these shows daily... from many people... and create an echo chamber of our own...but as of yet.. I find myself still working on my own... spreading the truth!

BE the MEDIA..

41. He's a middle-of-the-road good ole boy
who likes to talk about sports, hunting, guns, and himself a little too much for my taste. I listen to him, but usually end up turning him off after only so long because I just can't stand it.

Yes, everyone stops by his show. It's because its CONTENT is the least controversial of all the Left shows. He's a former Republican, and though he argues progressive issues, it's rarely beyond a certain point -- somewhere around the Red-State center.

What we here, at DU, must remember is that most of us are far left of those in the rest of the Democratic Party. I see it in my friends, and even in those in my own family who identify/register as Democrat or even Green. I am to the Left of almost every one of them.

So, Ed appeals to far more of the Dems, than Randi Rhodes does (unfortunately). His listenership is growing faster than any other show in Left Radio, and that includes Al Franken's. It's happening for a reason, whether or not people like me can stand him for more than about an hour at a time.
