Jason Christy of The Church Report applauds President's choice of Samuel Alito for Supreme Court Justice

PHOENIX -- Jason Christy, publisher and editor in chief of The Church Report, today applauded President Bush on his choice of Judge Samuel A. Alito to replace retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. The 55-year-old Alito currently serves as a federal judge for the 3 rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a post he was appointed to in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush.

"I am pleased to give my backing to a candidate with the conservative credentials of Mr. Alito," said Christy. Casey, in which he stood alone in favor of a Pennsylvania law requiring a woman to inform her husband before aborting her baby. Christy said that his own research into Alito's background and credentials shows a jurist committed to accurately interpreting the Constitution. "I feel strongly that President Bush has chosen a man of both high moral integrity and commitment to the original intent of our Constitution's framers," he said. "His track record as a federal judge over the past 15 years shows he has the intellect and understanding of constitutional law as well as the overall judicial temperament to fill the crucial role as a Supreme Court Justice for many years to come.
