Ohio Republicans Lead the Way
In Corruption

http://www.OhioHonestelections.org
has more on Ney and assorted Republican thieves along with today's Washington Post article on Ney and Lobbyists:

Monday, October 31, 2005

Washington Post on Ney (read more about Representative Ney on our Republican Thieves Part II - Ney page:

"In late June, Rep. Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) -- lately best known as a friend of embattled lobbyist Jack Abramoff -- directed the clerk of the House to require all lobbyists to file disclosures over the Internet. The clerk dutifully instructed the city's roughly 35,000 lobbyists to do so starting Jan. 1, even though it's doubtful that a single member of Congress -- even one who chairs the Committee on House Administration -- actually has the authority to demand anything so sweeping on his own."

"In 2001, Ney managed to compel the House cafeterias to change the name of french fries to freedom fries to protest France's reluctance to back the United States in its war against terrorism. But that's a lot different than forcing every lobbyist in town to alter his or her professional behavior. Nonetheless, the directive was given and followed. The rest has been a disaster."

snip-

"Lobbyists love to speculate why Ney issued his paperless dictum. A minority suspect that he was trying to sabotage the process. But a larger number believe this: Ney was having his own troubles with lobbyist connections, specifically with Abramoff, and wanted to show he was on the side of the angels."

"Ney accepted many favors from Abramoff, including a golf outing to Scotland in 2002, and is under investigation in Florida by federal prosecutors looking into Abramoff's purchase of a cruise line company, according to people familiar with the probe who spoke only on the condition of anonymity. Ney's spokesman denied that the congressman had done anything improper with Abramoff and said Ney didn't change the lobby rules in reaction to Abramoff, either."

1. Tell George Bush to Return the Money to Ohio! Sign the Petition Now.
Ohio House Democratic Leader, Representative Chris Redfern, asks us to sign his Petition for President George Bush to return the laundered campaign money he got from that crook, Noe.

Dear friends,

As many of you now know, Tom Noe, the Lucas County businessman at the center of the state government scandals, was indicted earlier this week in Toledo for laundering more than $45,000 to the Bush/Cheney Campaign in 2003.

It's time to demand that George Bush return that money.

Tom Noe stole millions of dollars from the Bureau of Workers Compensation so he could help support his GOP friends. But that money belongs to this state, not the Republican Party.

Sign our petition to President Bush demanding that he immediately return the money to the BWC.

With your help, we can urge the President to do the responsible thing and stop accepting illegal campaign contributions.

So sign our petition today and encourage your friends and family to add their names to it as well!

You can read my full statement on the Noe indictment in the press room section on our web site. And check back often for updates on these shameful scandals and what Democrats are doing to reform state government.

Working together, we can demand accountability from our leaders, end the culture of corruption and return our attention to the real issues facing Ohioans.

Thank you for all that you do.

Chris Redfern

4. Your post title had me worried for a second Columbus!
That is.. until I clicked and read the message section! http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/lol!.gif

Big Eddie Schultz broadcasted his radio show from Columbus, Ohio this past Friday.

One of the people in attendance was a woman who was employed by the Divison of Elections in that area.

She said that during the last presidential election, she observed some employees (I can't remember who they worked for-- I'd have to check Eddie's site).. but she watched them remove some sort of panel from the voting machine she was working at... then watched them replace the panel with another one.

When she later brought her concerns to her superiors, she was fired.. terminated.. canned. She had been an exemplary employee for years and years and years... but her concerns that something seemed suspicious were enough for them to can her.

She said that another election official in Ohio who had also witnessed a similar incident and reported it, was also fired.

Both are left now with nothing to do but file a lawsuit..

Anyway.. with coingate and everything else going on there.. it was incredibly sad to hear what happened to these employees for speaking up about suspicious activity..
