MSNBC Says "True Liberals" Support Union Busting Ca. Props
Cites LA Times and San Fran. Chronicles as "true liberals" for their "bold" stance on these issues, teachers unions and other unions portrayed as neanderthals as wanting to perserve their incredibly limited job protections.

This is the problem you run into when your fucking suits on TV think that THEY are somehow superior to the Working Class and that THEY will not suffer when the peons are rounded up and forced into slave labor camps.

The real reason that these newspapers are taking these stances are because their owners would love to cut their employee benefits, too. And the bosses at MSNBC and GE would love to do the same. Hell, they could get erudite, handsome, fluent english speaking journalists from India for a fraction of teh cost that they pay the current TV pundits. Only problem might be that the Indians are a little too intelligent to repeat the TV corporate bs with a straight face.

End of rant.

3. BUT, rather significant segmenst of the Democratic Party abandoned unions
and have shifted their support to the corporations in return for significant campaign contributions.

It's only the "old" democrats that hold to the archaic notion that democrats support labor.

5. You got it
Significant union members abandoned the Democrats in 1968 - not over VietNam - but over
RACE
Remember the 1968 "Hardhats" who supported Nixon - over support for VietNam and preserving lilly white unions.

Remember the Macomb County (MI) Nixon Democrats and Reagan Democrats - the issues were school integration, busing to achieve school integration, support for the war - and oh yes, the urban riots of 1968.

The GOP "Southern Strategy" pulled even northern trade unionists into the GOP column.

I walked precincts in Pittsburgh's "United Steel Workers" - "J and L Steel Hazelwood Works" 15th Ward. It was all about the "Southern Strategy" applied up north -- it was all about RACE, WOMENS' LIB, RACE, MARIJUANA, RACE, VIET NAM, AND RACE.

I was there - I am 64 years old -- and I am going out in the rain to drive voters to the polls.

4. That's Bull Crap
I am here at the intersection of Market and Santa Clara Streets -- and that is pure unadulterated bull crap.

But - if they think "True Liberals Support Prop 75" - just wait till they see:

Son of Prop 75 - Requiring shareholder approval for corporate political contributions.
Making the rounds of the Secretary of State and Attorney General now for approval to go on the 2006 ballot.
Grandson of Prop 75- Requiring specific, candidate by candidate, contribution approval of the supposedly "anonymous" and "voluntary" 21st Century Tammany Hall political "macing the payrollers" racket called "Employee PACs".
I was appraised as "Not A Team Player" on this one sweet heart - because I objected to my money going to Paul Findley.
