"have you no sense of decency?"
untill now this was the most important statement in the last 50 some years..today we have heard the most important statement in this so far in this century. for those who have never heard the McCarthy-Welch hearings here is a link. it`s interesting and is quite relevant today because McCarthy uses the same false arguments that the right wing use against anyone who challenges them -just replace communists with democrats.
murtha just said the same thing-"sir have you no sense of decency"
the decency to stop this war

rather long

1. Have you seen "Good Night and Good Luck"?
I imagine that it is difficult to see out where you live in Ronnieland, but it is damned excellent.

The use of the original McCarthy hearing tape mixed with the B&W movie is seamless. It'll blow you away...

4. Out of curiosity, do they show RFK in the movie?
If I recall, he was one of McCarthy's staffers or aides. I think he repented some of that extreme anticommunism later on?

10. Hey burrowowl - if you are going to make fun of someone you
should first make certain you are correct. You are in fact incorrect.

12. Kennedy was counsel for the committee.
That meant he worked for McCarthy, but he would have had a wider role.

6. I'm going to have to travel some...
to see it too but I've got to. I was horrified when I saw the real thing when family member was stationed at the Pentagon and I was in VA on school vacation. Glued to the television, horrified and terrified. Was this America? Of course, I'm doing that all the time now.

9. It is worth a drive....
I only had to go 5 miles to see it, but it was worth taking a vacation day from work.

8. We saw it tonight
and I had the feeling that we are there again now but it left me hopeful that we came out of it then and we can, will, do it now too.

11. I rarely go to movies...
Last one I saw in a theater was Fahrenheir 911. This is a must see for progressives. Awesome, mind blowing.

2. on other threads
here and at kos and next hurrah, I've mentioned several times that I think that's the closest analogy for the kind of moment we saw today with John Murtha's statement.
